Why won't the left forment a conservative backlash? |
|
We need to build a conservative backlash like the right has built a liberal backlash.
I don't see any coordinated effort to expose the radical nature of the modern GOP.
We need to target non-partisans and expose the GOP for what they are: retrograde radicals - unamerican and dangerous.

1. yes, but don't use intollerance |
|
the right is successful because it preaches knee-jerk intollerance of other ideas, people, religions, etc. If we follow the same strategy, we become just as bad as they are, if not worse.
Speak the truth. Expose the lies. Let people make up their own minds. THAT'S how we start the "backlash".

but the kinds of bullies who will not tolerate pluralism.Who do not want to live and let live. Freedom is incompatible with tyranny folks. So tyrants of any kind who want to lord over people who are not causing harm or abusing peoples freedoms cannot be"tolerated" if you want any real freedom. Sorry tolerating all people including intolerable tyrants is what got us into this mess. Wake up!

Depending on the election results from Ohio. I posted on this earlier: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x1976516If Hackett can do better than 40% in that district he'll have bucked a long-standing trend.

Because in a demographic sense, people (at least here in the US) are, in many ways becoming more conservative. To wit, the aging of our population. Boomers trying to save enough for retirement and worried about inflation. Young workers worried about future social security coverage in an age when many corporate retirement benefits have been withdrawn completely. People worried about defense, and anxious about the future availability of energy.
The republicans have scored great successes in playing to these issues. It is ironic that they claim the mantle of conservatism while continuing to rack up huge gov't and trade deficits. Defense spending up over 200% in just four years!!!! *'s administration is clearly the spendingest ever. The backlash against * will probably not be an attack against sound, conservative economic values, but will rather see the populace tiring of *'s social conservatism and its attendant widespread corruption.

I dont think it's those issues. If people really knew about the issues they'd turn against the Republicans based on thier policies.
