Al Gore is gonna run.
I'm taking bets. Really. The fact that this channel replaced one that could have been labelled partisan and used against him is VERY TELLING.
AND he's courting the youth and tech vote. BRILLIANT.
Hello. Wake up ppl. He's gonna run.

49. If only...
I wish he would run. I think if this iteration of Al Gore, the one who says what he thinks and isn't straitjacketed by a team of DLC Inside the Beltway (TM) consultants, had run in 2000, he would have won hands down.

The election of 2000 left a bad taste in the mouths of many swing voters, and I fear it would be disastrous. Although he is my second favorite Dem.

15. I actually think it's been long enough.
Being that the 2004 was actually uglier underneath. Kerry was easier to demonize. No one can argue that Al didn't come very very very close to 'winning".
Ah, this has all been said before;I'm just going on a very strong gut feeling. See my reply below.

17. Look at Nixon!
He ran and lost and ran again and won! Even though Nixon was an SOB he wasn't a total criminal like Bush is. He didn't have to steal an election and he didn't have daddy to help him get out of trouble. I wouldn't be surprised if he did run. Why Gore did the teen network? Maybe he thought it would attract more people and be more interesting and different.

He probably has learned from the past and Kerry's run and he seems like a way different person then in 2000. If he does run he won't be the Al Gore of 2000 but the Al Gore of 2008. Wouldn't it be funny if it was a Gore/Clinton ticket? Ha!

34. I thought that was what he did at the convention.
And the media pilloried him about his "Populist rhetoric."

Long story short, we need to stop allowing the media to define our candidates. That is easier said than done, I know.

We might have to wait until the Internet eclipses television before that becomes plausible. That could still be a few years off, sadly.

9. I dunno.
I would tend to agree in any NORMAL election situation. However, I think the best idea for any good candidate is to lay low until absolutely necessary (unless ppl don't know who you are/what your polices are) He is in the unique positon of having already informed the country not once but TWICE what his platform is. Great stealth candidate.
I really don't care all that much if he dosen't; but I just think the whole thing is telling. It's tugging at my gut instinct. SOMETHING'S going on; just not sure what.

37. Yea, let's not forget those other losers like
Andrew Jackson, Grover Cleveland, and Republicans too like Richard Nixon, yea they could never win. Also let us not forget the "losers" in sports like the Denver Broncos, or Boston Red Socks, but wait those losers came back to win, so much for loser theory. Al Gore never lost in 2000, the only people to lose, were the American People and the only way that we can come back to win, is for justice to be served with Al Gore being elected in 2008, with the ballots actually being counted this time.

46. I will also repeat, if you have a bad taste in your mouth,
the only cure is the mouthwash of justice. The only people tainted in 2000 were our so called fourth estate watchdogs that enabled the corrupt incompetent one to power in the first place, all for their own agenda. They trashed Al precisely because he helped us by democratizing information when he championed the internet. They wanted to retain their monopoly on what the truth is and the internet threatens them like no other. Like an enraged Zeus who had Prometheus chained to a rock only to have his liver eaten for all eternity for stealing fire from heaven and giving it to mankind. You can abandon the man that empowered you to voice your opinion through this website if you like, however that will not remove the bad taste no matter who wins in 2008. The only way to reverse the coup of 2000 is to put the man that was most offended in the White House where he belongs regardless of what the corpwhorate media think or say.

P.S. Al has not given up on us as his new televison/internet hybrid "Current" will attest, no living politician today exemplifies democracy more, with the possible exception of Jimmy Carter. And finally we need democracy now more than ever.

52. Sorry, I love Al Gore...after all, he backed my primary candidate,
but we will lose the swing voters. My husband isn't a corporate whore, nor involved with the media. I can't put it any plainer than this: The average person is not a DUer. MrG is not a DUer. He refuses to vote next election if Gore runs. Plain and simple. You're not going to change the minds of swing voters. Sure, you'll vote for him, but you can't vouch for your countrymen. It'd be a big mistake.

56. I do not believe that your husband is a corporate whore.
I trust that you are telling me the truth. I believe, as you say that the average person is not a DUer, actually I believe we are above average not because we are more intelligent but because we are more curious regarding finding out the truth. Most average Americans just go about their daily lives making a living and maybe catching 20-30 minutes of corporate sponsored news. They have come to trust our media, after all they have always been our fourth estate; our watchdog if you will. However something has gone terribly wrong with our American version of journalism, they have been bought out, they do not represent the American People any more, they represent their corporate masters. Today there are five corporations that own in excess of 80% of the mainstream media. They are totally disconnected with the American People, they live in ivory towers, the average American is just a pawn to be used for the advancement of their corporate agenda. They waged a war against Gore slandering him from at least 1998 to this day that has brainwashed many average Americans in to believing that A. He claimed to have invented the internet instead of giving the man credit for his vision and perseverance in democratizing information for everyone average or not. B. That he lost the 2000 debates after their own focus groups and some of their own media prostitutes said he won, they turned a 180 over night on this.C. That he claimed to have discovered the toxic waste at Love Canal, which he did not,his hearings on toxic waste in Tennessee did however include Love Canal. This is only the tip of the iceberg regarding their slander, I have included by the way a link to the Daily Howler Archives, they have an excellent record of the crimes committed against not just Al but by extension the American People.

http://dailyhowler.com/archives_99.shtml

P.S. This same corpwhorate media machine brainwashed 70+% of the American People in to believing that Saddam was behind 9/11. When Al came out with an excellent speech warning against going to war with Irag, they did not cover the content so much as to say he was ranting. In conlusion you can give up on Al and go with whatever candidate that the corpwhorate criminals say the average American should vote for but I will not. I have faith that the truth will rise and set us free.

8. That'd be poetic justice, or something
If so, he'd be re-running the Nixon cycle, with bush as the anti-Kennedy and Kerry as the anti-Goldwater. Let's hope he can cook up an "anti-Southern Strategy" to go with it. Maybe the media ownership maneuver is part of his anti-dastardly plan?

I would support him wholeheartedly this time around. If he polishes the populism a bit, I think he could pull it off.

22. I think and hope by 2008
people will be ready for someone like Al Gore. Someone who can offer them something. Like Clinton said: if you have two canidates and one is offering you hope and one is offering you fear you should go to the one with hope. People will be ready for a real debate on real issues by then for health care, Social Security reform and if Iraq is still going on with Iraq. Gore has come out in 2003 and did speeches on being against Iraq so that will help him a lot then as well. I still think our country needs Gore.

39. Then let us reinstate the draft,
the draft Al Gore for President in 2008 movement. In my humble opinion he has done more for us than any living political leader. He was trashed by the corpwhorate media precisely because he did help us. If Al Gore decided that he wanted to invade Hell and kick the Devil's ass, I would happily go with him. Currently we have hell on earth in the form of a corrupt incompetent party in charge and the prostitutes in the corpwhorate owned media that sold the American People down the river and enabled the naked emperor to power in the first place, while they blissfully slandered our best and brightest.

I'm not working my ass off to get people out to vote just to have them go home just the lines are too long and have there vote disappear with a few clicks on a computer.

I'm sure it was here a minute ago but now seems to be gone. Anyway, give it a listen and send it on. The true statesmanship expressed in it is a stark contrast to what we hear daily. No wonder Al stays out of the limelight.
