Why does Franken have Ryan Mauros on today?
He's a lying little shit, the world's 'youngest geopolitical analyst' at 19. Here's his website: http://www.worldthreats.com/ Big section of his website seems to be devoted to 'responding to Michael Moore'...

Oh, and he 'has a book out'. Sounds like he got his job the same way Gannon did, btw. Somebody just asked him if he wanted a job doing this one day (Scaife-funded, no doubt...).

He's referring to all these 'other reports' that he says indicate Iraq actually DID have WMD and sent them to Syria. No proof, just 'a report', or 'these other reports', etc...All anonymous and uncheckable.

Al calls him a 'fine young man'....

Al puts up a very weak response to his lies....says 'he'll check into it'. Says, "while I don't agree with all of your opinions... you're doing an amazing job..."

FOR FUCK'S SAKE, AL! IF YOU HAVE ONE OF THESE MINI-NEO-CONS ON, TRY TO DISPUTE HIS BULLSHIT NOW AND THEN!!!!!

I usually defend Franken here. I generally like his show, but that's probably just as much because I only listen to it when I'm stuck at work.

But I can't defend him having this crap on. He had Juan Cole on right before this guy (and Mauros said, he never heard of Juan Cole...). If he'd have had Cole on second, he could have disputed these unfounded claims instead of letting them hang in the air like a fucking stale fart.

1. I tried listening to that interview.
I got a bad feeling when Al started it out by asking the guy if and how he confirms that he's the youngest geopolitical analyst. I stopped listening a minute or so after that. Sounds like I did right.

2. Al has wingers on all the time
that's why I don't listen any more. Norm Ornstein, his Limbecile friend, Whoreward Fineman, and all sorts of "loonies of the day" like this idiot.

It's probable that with AAR now taking money from all sorts of GOP sponsors, the content will slowly become indistinguishable from hate radio.

3. This was beyond the pale today
I can take Ornstein, as he doesn't tend to lie much -- he's kind of a weird bird at AEI. I can tune out 'Mark' for the most part, and Fineman just goes in one ear and out the other.

This Mauros guy, though -- it was as if he went through every screwy theory that WorldNetDaily contrived to explain why they didn't find WMD. Al gave off a very subtle skepticism, but didn't really challenge any of the idiots unfounded bullshit.

4. I guess Al doesn`t realize that
if we want to listen to rightwingers, all we have to do is watch any news channel on television or tune into a wide array of talk radio. plenty of that garbage to go around.

7. I'm a big of Franken's show, and this one pissed me off, too.
Al, if you're not going to call their bullshit out, don't have them on your show. Why give these people free airtime to spread more unchallenged propaganda?

8. Yes, Al regularly allows the propagandists and criminals to spew their
lies and misinformation unchecked. He has the PNACers, AEIers, and other closet corporate/fascists on and sits there like a dumbass while they spread their lies and criminality.

One of the last shows I bothered to listen to had an AEI guy on who claimed Chavez (Ven.) was harboring Al Quida.

Give me a fucking break.

Where I am coming from: The DU thread and the previous where I posted

If your IQ is as high as Franken's you can see that he is drawing out their weak points and their inconsistencies.

See the thread

This is where Al differs from Randi Rhodes and "Big Ed" Schultz.

Sometimes Al loses me with his esoterica and subtlety -- but if you listen carefully and know what's being discussed - he is subtle and good.

And, if you really listen carefully, you can see how he is politely and subtly skewering them in their own Neocon juices.

In the old days - Progressives could read, analyze, synthesize, compare and contrast, dissect bull crap, and separate the wheat from the chaff -- that was in the days of Hubert Humphrey and Adlai Stevenson. But, sadly, we went the way of the rest of the community ---

No need to respond - I know that I am an arrogant, elitist intellectual snob with too many degrees - eat sushi, drink Lattes, go to symphonies, drive a Prius, read the New York Times and the San Francisco Chronicle, listen to NPR, pro-choice, belong to the ACLU -- a totally arrogant, elitist intellectual snob. And, I love it.

9. Franken is on my cable system at 11:30pm. I find his show a
great remedy for insomnia. A few minutes of him and Katherine and I'm off to a good night's sleep.
