what if masses of pugs vote for Clark in Dem primaries? |
|
The nomination of Clark may not be up to progressive v. moderate Dems.
Masses of non-Democrat Americans, even millions perhaps, may re-register at primary time to insure his nomination. Many may be anti-Bush Republicans.

2. And beating bush is a bad thing? |
|
Inclusion of conservative-moderate Dems and anti-Bush republicans is a negative? Getting arbusto out of the Oval Office at any cost is my goal for 2004.

5. who said it's negative? |
|
I'm just pointing out that all this wrangling pre-primary is useless. Whacking the supporters of other candidates is futile. Dems may not even be the ones who decide the party's nominee.

3. Reports say they're doing just that for Dean in NH |
|
Though, oddly, it doesn't seem to be taken as an indication that he's a crypto-Republican, which he has now accused Clark of being. Welcome to politics-as-usual, Dean style.

they want Bush. If you'd prefur any dem over Bush, your not a republican or a conservative with any real meaning.
That's not to say those afformentioned dittohead types aren't going to cross-vote, but they'll be voting for Dean and Sharpton
not anyone who could take Bush down

9. anti-Bush sentiment more likely to cause apathy, imo |
|
Republicans I think are going to be the victims of cognitive dissonance. The GOP rhetoric is still that Bush is great, and any republican that has started to doubt it is more likely to be in too confused a state to come up with a strategy like that.
I'd be interested to see if there's any anti-Bush posts at Free Republic, and how it's received, though I find that site too hard to navigate for me to bother going over there and checking out.

13. there's a fair amount of anti-Bush sentiment at FR |
|
There's a core group of "Bushbots" who are mostly sex-deprived grannies who drool over *'s photos every day and project their romantic fantasies on him.
There are some hard-core politicos who support him because he's not a Democrat and because of his hardball policies.
There are some libertarians and paleo-cons who oppose Bushco's imperialism and big government.
There are some former Bush supporters who have been around FR for a long time and who actually are talking about the crimes and the flaws of the administration. They're mad.
And a lot of freepers left the site when it started censoring heavily. It really is a shadow of its former self.

registered demo to vote for him in the demo primary last year.
I would be most pleased to see the remnant of the moderate republican faction switch to the democratic party. Of course, that would move the party to the center, further from me, but it would also isolate the so-called Republicans (who insult the heritage of Lincoln, Roosevelt, Hoover and Eisenhower by using the name) in their little ghetto. Perhaps someday we could see two or more real parties in this country.
