How does *'s creationism fit in with oil exploration/geology?
Do all the geologists in the Texas oil industry agree that all oil fields are less than 6,000 years old?

1. maybe this is where the "abiotic oil" myth comes in
No one's taking that bullcrap seriously anyway.

8. Is the "abiotic oil" myth the one which theorizes that oil
renews itself through some unknown (at least to me) process deep in the bowels of the earth?

If so, I've heard of that one. :eyes:

Wish it were so, but it sounds ridiculous to me.

9. not at all abiotic oil came from awareness of very old reserves
the belief in abiotic oil came from the observation that large oil fields in the former soviet union were pre-cambrian

i am now satisfied that the objections to the fossil theory of oil formation have been answered

but prior to the early 80s it was not really understood how you could have pre-cambrian oil for was not understood how widespread life was prior to the cambrian explosion

this is why many soviets (atheists) believed in the abiotic theory long after most usa scientists had put the theory to bed

can't blame this one on the whacks

10. There was plenty of pre-cambrian life.
Don't know where people get that idea.

16. because we didn't used to know that
older people were taught of something called the cambrian explosion when life caught fire

young people think what is known today we always knew

not so

many wonderful discoveries made in geology and paleontology in the last 20-30 yrs

in the 60s, pre-cambrian fossils were rare and often not recognized, now there are many and even a hobbyist can buy them

18. The Burgess Shale was discovered in 1909.
So I don't know why people are going around thinking russian oil wells can't date back to the precambrian.

20. they knew the oil was pre-cambrian
they felt the fossil theory did not explain the quantities of oil being produced from pre-cambrian sources

i am not defending them, clearly they were wrong

however, their logic was not completely illogical, they were petroleum engineers trying to explain something they felt at the time was unexplained

i'm sure they knew of the burgess shale but nonetheless they were not at that time completely satisfied by the fossil theory

it's a matter of history what they believed

now when people try to dredge up abiotic theory today, OK, you have a gripe, but i don't think you can rightly complain that all people at all times in all places did not agree w. what we believe to be true today

peace

The problem with these people is that the DON'T think about it. Believing is easy, doubting, searching for the truth and questioning everything is hard. They'll all take the easy way out. It's the Republican way!

6. If intelligent design, why did all that oil end up in Islamic nations?
I mean why didn't the intelligent God put more oil in Christian nations so that the Islamic nations would be left out of all those riches?

Maybe Mohammad is the intelligent one after all? Alla be praised!

7. That There is a Never Ending Supply of Black Gold
Edited on Tue Aug-02-05 07:09 PM by stepnw1f
That by an instantaneous miracle, God will refill every oil well.

The funny thing is oil is ancient and because it takes so long for the Earth to create oil, the wells are depleting faster than Bush can come up with enough wars.

Creationism is based on selfishness, placing the 'man' at the center of their universe. That's why they have no faith. Instead they must create one.
