Neocons itching to invade Iran
Edited on Wed Aug-03-05 07:13 AM by marekjed
Check out Ledeen's latest spewage:
http://www.nationalreview.com/ledeen/ledeen.asp

Then there's a recently established site called "Global Politician". They call themselves "independent", but they mean it the Orwellian way. I don't know who funds them, but they certainly toe the empire line. Here's a listing for their "Iran" section:

http://www.globalpolitician.com/subarticle.asp?SID=4&cid=2

Finally, most of you will be familiar by now by with the piece by Philip Giraldi in "American Conservative" about Cheney telling the Pentagon to prepare for nuking Iran. That was not available online and only a single paragraph was making the rounds. Here's the complete text of that article:

16. Numerological sequence based on the 9/11 and 7/7 terrorist...
...attacks. Nine plus seven sums to sixteen which divided by two equals eight (8). Eleven plus seven sums to eighteen which divided by two equals nine (9). That gives 8/9 which occurs in Iraq/Iran hours before the U.S. Thus any attack on Iran which will certainly happen with nighttimes bombings (i.e. 8/9 @ 12:35AM would still be 8/8 4:05PM in the eastern time zones).

So, our date reference would be 8/8!

13. NeoCon is a RW talking point. It is the defense of the Conservative
movement in the US. It is the enabler.

Case in point. Last week, I spoke with a woman who was a CONSERVATIVE (according to her.) A Real American.

She was a Fundie, anti-abortion, anti-birth control, pro-war, pro-tax cuts, anti the "Welfare Queens" (of color, her children on medicaid,) anti-universal health care, pro-"the troops" (she has a yellow ribbon bumper sticker.)

Every talking point. But, she is not a NeoCon, they are wingnuts. She is a real Conservative. It is her out. She is vindicated.

Conservatives are extremely fearful of being branded as they branded the term "liberal." They have invented a word that will keep their "brand" safe.

Well, not from me. There are Conservatives, Moderates, Progressives & Liberals. NeoCons is a badly made up word.

Sorry, she just made me so angry.

17. The Fundys/Christian Right need to figure out
that they are being used by the NeoCons - the PNAC people.

If the Fundys don't like what they are doing "Global SAVE", for instance - they should say so.

8. I love this article title.
Can We Trust Iran With Nuclear Weapons?
http://www.globalpolitician.com/articledes.asp?ID=921&cid=2&sid=4

Shouldn't it read: Can We Trust the US With Nuclear Weapons?
What really scares me is that Cheney's preparations, from what I've read, gives permission to use force in the event of another attack on the US, even if it isn't proven that they were the perpetrators of the attack. That's just crazy!

14. That's why Cheney says to use nukes
I promised myself not to engage in fear-mongering, but these two dots connect that way.

Bush is on vacation, Congress is in recess. If nothing happens in August and September, I'll breathe easily again.

22. I'm with you.
I too will feel much better if we make it through just August without incident. My tinfoil hat has been buzzing for a while now. I just don't trust this misadministration in the least, and like you, I try not to get into the fear factor, but my darn hat just won't quit!
Let's hope we're wrong!

11. From the Ledeen piece...
This is unbelievable. The hypocrisy is astounding.
http://www.nationalreview.com/ledeen/ledeen.asp
...A week ago, a judiciary oversight committee in Tehran issued a blistering report about the systematic violations of human rights by Iranian judges and jailers. The report cited torture and beatings, illegal wiretapping, solitary confinement in spaces as small as three square feet, detentions without charges for long periods of time, brutality against female prisoners, and so forth.

Everybody knows that the charges are true, as they were four years ago when the head of the Iranian judiciary, Judge Shahroudi, wrote

Justice in our country cannot even compare to those of other third world countries...Many good and innocent people are arrested and through torture forced to sign confessions. By the time these individuals stand before a judge, they've gone through hell...

Nothing happened, and nothing will happen unless the West, led by this country, says "enough!" to the Tehran regime. Anybody interested?>end

Maybe we should start here and clean up our own garden before we start cleaning up the neighbors.

15. The goal is "cauldronization."
"One can only hope that we turn the region into a cauldron, and faster, please. If ever there were a region that richly deserved being cauldronized, it is the Middle East today. If we wage the war effectively, we will bring down the terror regimes in Iraq, Iran, and Syria, and either bring down the Saudi monarchy or force it to abandon its global assembly line to indoctrinate young terrorists."

19. From the article:
"It seems they have spat in the Europeans' faces once again on the farcical nuclear negotiations, having announced on Sunday that they were breaking the seal on the enrichment facility in Isfahan. That tracks with claims I have received in the past few days, saying that the last technical problems have been overcome, and that, in the next month or two, Khamenei will either announce that Iran has the bomb, or one will be detonated to remove any doubt. Time will tell, as it will tell if, as the mullahs hope, atomic bombs can protect them from democratic revolution. I think not." :nuke:

_____

And then to rag on others for torture - when the US gov't is doing the same. I guess our justice cannot even compare to other third world countries, either.

"If we were determined to support freedom in Iran, we would expand our welcome support for Ganji to the other political prisoners now dying under torture in that suffering country. Indeed, one of those little pockets of freedom has given us the opportunity. A week ago, a judiciary oversight committee in Tehran issued a blistering report about the systematic violations of human rights by Iranian judges and jailers. The report cited torture and beatings, illegal wiretapping, solitary confinement in spaces as small as three square feet, detentions without charges for long periods of time, brutality against female prisoners, and so forth.

I would bet that Ledeen is fully aware of this.

23. CIA didn't so much as "report"
According to WaPo, it was a leak - and according to Ray McGovern, the leak was timed to preempt Cheney's war-pimping:

Here's WP:

And here's McGovern:
