How do you try to reason with this pro Iraq war logic? |
|
from an online argument with a freeper. He states upon being informed of now 1800 of our soldiers dead in Iraq:
"Tragic. That America's bravest pay the ultimate sacrifice in the war on terror. Thankfully, there are men & women willing to take on such a dangerous role so there isn't another episode of over 3,500 innocent men, women, & children murdered."
Sigh.

4. The obvious doesn't work with some people. |
|
typical responses: "Saddam was harboring terrorists" "Saddam was a threat" "Saddam was a bad guy and needed to be removed"
Sigh...

so:
the Iraqi regime had no connection with al qaeda or 9/11. End of story.
Your next two arguments for the war are unrelated to your original argument.

don't even try. Some people are just too stupid.
Of course, mentioning a few thousand innocent Iraqis killed might...oh nevermind.

Those types "dead enders".Nothing we show them no matter how conclusive will change their minds.
There are some that were duped and can be reasoned with but some are just so far gone that its pointless to try.

"so there isn't another episode of over 3,500 innocent men, women, & children murdered"
i was going to add nothing to my subject line, but I'm getting really depressed over here. I know it happens to everyone, political burnout, but im feelin it BIG TIME. But you cannot give up, remind this asshole that there has been that episode, it's not only reoccurred, but by most accounts it has probably reoccurred nearly 30 times to the unfortunate citizens/HUMAN BEINGS who happen to reside in a country once called Iraq.
And the kicker? It happened at our hands...

8. Just call him a coward for not enlisting himself. |

The one I'm having trouble reasoning with is the "but the insurgents are targeting civilians!!!" bullshit.

9. Treat it like dealing in human currency |
|
if U.S. dead exceed victims of WTO style attacks the treatment would be worse than the disease.
He would probably reply that soldiers chose to die in the name of country or that civilians some how are more valuable than enlisted men or some such non-sense. Still if you accept his original flawed premise you could argue this angle.
