MSNBC had the most arrogant segment just now...two military guys. |
|
Talking about the 20 Ohio guys killed in Iraq, the stone-faced guy...don't know his name, don't want to know it..said the sooner Americans get used to the fact this is war the sooner they can accept these things.
Bastards...Allard and guy whose face did not move when he talked.

Desensitization....Completely hollow the hearts of the American people and we can "bring Democracy" to the world.
This is how we get serial killers. They start with bugs, then rodents, then cats and dogs, then humans.
Each time they move up the "level of death" they are "getting used to it" until the ultimate extreme takes place.
I hate this culture of violence in our nation....Just "get used to it". Bite me.

3. They want us to get used to "Never ending war" So get used to it! |
|
Edited on Wed Aug-03-05 02:44 PM by LaPera
As chickenhawk Dick Cheney has said...
Never ending war to build more of their world empire by force, soldiers dying to protect their master's investments, soldiers dying while forced to steal other country's resources, soldiers dying to keep imperialism strong.
Soldiers dying and who is getting rich off their death's?
Halliburton certainly is, so is the Carlyle Group, Bechtel, oil companies, defense contractors & other defense related corporations and chickenhawk politicians who use the war for their hollow patriotism...
So why are the soldiers dying, again?

Were these guys two of the troops we're supposed to "support?"
Or are they just two assholes who like to talk on TV about military stuff?

5. Retired talking heads. Col. or Gen. Allard, and the stone-faced guy. |
|
I will check the transcripts later to see if their text appears. It was like being in an alternative universe in which aliens had taken over the media.

Tell them each to pick up a rifle and head to Haditha.
Or else they should shut the hell up.

7. I believe before the war Michael Ledeen said |
|
Edited on Wed Aug-03-05 02:40 PM by Minstrel Boy
America needed to get its "nose bloodied" in a serious conflict if it was to deserve its place in the world. (Or rather, astride the world.)
People like Ledeen actually want casualties. They want to harden Americans into accepting bloodshed as the nature of things. That is what is expected of citizens of Empire.

9. These guys pretend the war is a given |
|
They pretend it's like the wheather, you shouldn't complain, just adapt.
The Bushbots have been telling this for months, as if we the fact Bush is president means we can only grin and bear it.

11. Isn't that how they are trained? |
|
I mean, after all.....soldiers are trained killers. That is what they do. It is the only way they can cope - they HAVE to disconnect from the grim reality. It must mean NOTHING to them - or else they would fail in their mission.
I don't mean to offend - but they clearly want the rest of America to disconnect too. A growing sense of apathy against the abysmmal horrors and inhumanity of war - in all its forms.

12. Did anyone else see who the other guy, a General, was? |
|
I am so curious now. I have seen him before, he was on opposite that fool Allard. He has dark hair, and I swear he hardly moves his face when he speaks. He did not sound convincing when he as much as said those to the effect that those townspeople had to accept this was war.
I want to know who that man was! He was so cold.

14. Except that's not how they 'sold' the war |
|
Edited on Wed Aug-03-05 03:02 PM by htuttle
They promised a quick war, an easy war, in and out in 6 months, tops. Oh, and it would pay for itself.
All along, the Bushites have been downplaying any potential cost for the war, from deceptive budgets that didn't include the cost of it, to not showing the coffins, to censoring photos and media, to outright lying to get us into it in the first place.
Remember WWII? Did we have to be so deceived to get people behind it? (Pearl Harbor foreknowledge conspiracies notwithstanding) Did they NEVER show pictures of the casualties and the destruction? Were returning coffins respected and honored IN PUBLIC, DURING THE DAY? Were people asked to sacrifice, and did they without revolting?
Compare the two situations, and that's how you can tell the difference between a 'just war' and a war for empire. They don't have to censor coverage of a 'just' war. They don't have to lie about a 'just war'.

Looks like about half the country's figured out we got sold a lemon. Of course, it's the other half that gets their votes counted.

16. Furious...our local NBC affiliate spun it the same way! |
|
They must have gotten their talking points. I have no clue who the guy was, retired military, but he said it would be making them fight harder for their buddies.
I am going to find the video at the WFLA website, and the story. This is so sad they are doing this.
Like how unfortunate, but they will see how important it is to get the job done. He sounded just as cold as the one on MSNBC with the frozen face. They all know they are lying! They even have that look people have when they know they are lying.
Those are RNC talking points and MSNBC/NBC are using them.

17. Numbness is setting in. |
|
After I heard about the 14 dead, I asked my husband why I should care when their families support Bush and his war mongering despite the loss of their loved ones? Maybe they're trying to justify the death in their own minds, but this has to stop. It's lunacy.

It was almost other-worldly. The parents of those dead soldiers have to be careful what they say, but I imagine many are having to bite their tongues now.
