John Korsmo, a former federal banking regulator and
North Dakota Republican chairman, has been suspended from practicing law because of his felony conviction for lying about his role in a political fund-raiser.
North Dakota's Supreme Court ordered the interim suspension of Korsmo's law license on Wednesday, while the justices await completion of a state disciplinary investigation.

FRANKFORT, Ky. -- A former Transportation Cabinet commissioner facing 14 charges was indicted yesterday on 21 felony counts alleging he shredded and altered records and tampered with a witness.

Since the roundups in February and March of more than a dozen elected officials in Monmouth County, one question has beenquietly whispered among county insiders: What about Palughi?
Anthony Palughi was the consummate insider,
a former Republican official and Long Branch councilman who for two decades had remained politically active. He was also friends with most of the men nabbed in the February raids.
Palughi answered those whispers yesterday when he appeared in federal court in Newark to plead guilty to bribery charges. He admitting taking $12,500 for steering an undercover FBI agent and a cooperating witness to jobs from other officials in the county.
