Latest Right-wing talking point: Hackett hid his Democratic label
Edited on Thu Aug-04-05 12:17 PM by wicket
Rush has already picked up on it and now the rest of them are regurgitating the RNC talking points fax:

http://redstate.org/story/2005/8/3/182749/9461

I just got an email from Howard Dean who writes about the Hackett loss, in part,

The formula is simple. Paul Hackett didn't apologize for being a Democrat, didn't hold back from criticizing a president who has failed to lead in Iraq and at home, and took a strong Democratic message into the heart of a Republican stronghold.

Well, Hackett did not apologize for being a Democrat because pubicly he never said he was a Democrat. Hackett criticized the President in small groups and nationally, but locally and in his ads he ran advertising making it look like he supported the President. Lastly, Hackett did not take a strong "Democratic message" into a Republican district. The only message he took was that he was an Iraq war veteran. In fact, while Hackett is vastly better looking than the Queen of the Damned look alike he ran against, at least with Schmidt it is clear from her website that she was a Republican. Hackett hid from his Democrat label.

A google word search of the Hackett site finds three links to the word "Democrat" and each occurence is from a newspaper article cited on the website. Contrast that with Schmidt. A google word search of her site comes up with fifteen links.

So there you have it, the latest attack on Paul Hackett- that he tried to hide the fact that he is a Democrat. Can these people get any more pathetic??

4. Yeah, he hid his democratic label. Riiiight.

...It was a tough chore to go around and erase the (D) from next to his name in all the polling places, I am sure.

5. Schmidt was on CNN saying that Hackett
pretended to be Republican, represented himself as one, and barely put on his fliers that he was a Democrat.... She is so wrinkled, she needs to stay out of the sun or tanning bed....

7. Hiding the fact he's a Democrat!!
That's why he had Max Cleland campaigning with him. Actually, it was Schmidt who was running from the Republican label..."I've never met Noe!"---yeah, BS

23. Yeah, and didn't Schmidt say that she
held Republican values, but didn't agree with Bush on everything, trying to get rid of the "rubberstamp" label. If anyone ditched their party it was Schmidt.

10. Maybe they should try googling Hackett with "Democratic"
as in "Democratic Party" or "Democratic candidate." Doin' it their way makes as much sense as Googling "Bush" and "publican."

C ya,

13. Flash! RW insists Ohio 2ndCD Republicans are REALLY dumb!
How else could it explain why thousands of historically GOP voters cast ballots for Hackett instead of Schmidt? They were clearly too mentally impared to notice things like Hackett's Bush bashing, or the D by his name on the ballot... little things like that.

It certainly couldn't be because Chimp is an ass and Schmidt is an... well, um... suppository.

15. Confirmation That They Are Worried
Edited on Thu Aug-04-05 02:47 PM by loindelrio
They realize that the coalition of hate is faltering, and are ramping up the propaganda machine accordingly to explain away the event to dissuade any defections.

A weakness of the Reich-Wing media machine is that if you read between the lines, kinda like Pravda during the cold war, you can sense their true direction.

OTOH, the left provides ultimate misdirection in our 'herding cats' approach to politics.

31. They and their DLC moles are worried! That is for sure!
Can't actually have an OPPOSITION party that is in SINC with the VAST MAJORITY of the Democratic Party base, now, can we!

To actually act on the methods we have been delineating here for some time now - "WE" might actually win for a change!

Can't have that!

Got to continue with repuke lite vichy dems.

25. What I don't get
is why they can't move on to a different topic. The election is over, Hackett didn't win. Move on. Whether it's Clinton or Hackett or whomever, they just never let it die and continue to make up lies and blame things on that person. Pathetic.

26. One of the critical stages of grief..
... is denial. These poor fuckheads have to come up with a rationale that doesn't mean they are toast. This works in our favor. If they write this off in their heads, we can take advantage of that fact.

I'm sure when people cast their votes, they noticed which party Mr. Hackett is in.

30. Not denial, here. DISTRACTION.
The Reeps want us to somehow imagine that Hackett's ballsiness, his ability to tell people the truth about Bush's cowardice (hence, the use of the term "Chickenhawk") and about Bush's parentage (hence, the use of the term "Son of a bitch," which is accurate) had nothing to do with his amazing showing in that election.

Y'see, the only logical take-away for Dems (who are really Dems), is that it's time to burn the pink tutus, take off the gloves, and FIGHT.

But if we imagine that Hackett only did as well as he did because he "pretended to be a Reep," well, we might not remember this.

It's just classic Rove distraction. Don't believe it. fuck, don't even talk about it. I'm done.
