Santorum against "Intelligent Design" being taught
First Frist on stem cells, now Santorum on this............ I wish the democrats would take notice!!!! They are trying to appeal to the left!!! Their polls must have told them that left is growing. Let's be who we are instead of meeting them in the middle of the road.

2. What?!?!
Mr. Pro-family Christian himself? Uh what? I think that's what they're trying to do as well. They're noticing the change for 2006! This is ridiculous! First what they're saying about Hackett and now this?! I knew something funny was going on.

12. It's a "tactic" designed to get themselves elected. Then,
after the election... It's gonna be back to "I never really said that" or "That's not what I really meant" as they all seem to "learn" Rove's tactics (you know... the "open the spigot" type...) pretty fast, IMHO.

I say: don't fall for it.

5. I agree.
I think Frist may be sincere in his stance, but Santorum is a tricky fellow.

8. I have been warning people about this....but no one listens
the people that voted for the jerk the last time around aren't going to change their vote because they either

1. agree with his stance on issues
2. have long term memory issues

That is why I am supporting the longshot in the Dem primary...(Pennachio)...1. because he and I agree more on issues and 2. Casey is too much like Santorum and voters in PA that aren't thrilled by either will say.... "well it is better to have a tenured senator than a newly minted one....who is basically the same". (althought Casey is a much nicer individual)..

Granted I will pull a straight ticket for the Dems no matter what...but I don't know about the rest of the voters...

6. Catholic Church teaches evolution
That is why I think they are LYING about this. Calling it Intelligent Design, when what they really mean is Creationism and the LITERAL interpretation of the Bible.

They lie about everything else. Why should this be any different.

Santorum, 2008 Presidential candidate. We can only hope this loony gets the nod from the right wing. Although this proves how loony Bush is.

10. Well Yeah, Duh. He's Mr. "I'm a Roman-Catholic and I do whatever...
...the Pope tells him to do."

The Catholic Church does not teach this new PR farce "Intelligent Design," so RW-Rick can't support it.

As a former Roman-Catholic, I think I can say, his blind obedience to Rome and the Pope is exactly what's wrong with the American Catholic Church today.

14. This is a bold face lie....LIAR! LIAR! PANTS ON FIRE!
From National Center for Science Education

http://www.ncseweb.org/resources/articles/ID-activists-...

In proposing the amendment, Senator Santorum cited a law review article coauthored by "intelligent design" proponent David K DeWolf, professor of law at Gonzaga University and Senior Fellow at the Discovery Institute's Center for the Renewal of Science and Culture. And the godfather of the "intelligent design" movement, Phillip Johnson, was quoted in the June 18 Washington Times as having "helped frame the language" of the amendment.

On June 13, 2001, the US Senate adopted a Sense of the Senate amendment to the Elementary and Secondary Education Act Authorization bill, S 1, then under consideration. Proposed by Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA), the amendment read:

It is the sense of the Senate that (1) good science education should prepare students to distinguish the data or testable theories of science from philosophical or religious claims that are made in the name of science; and (2) where biological evolution is taught, the curriculum should help students to understand why the subject generates so much continuing controversy, and should prepare the
students to be informed participants in public discussions regarding the subject.

The Santorum Language does not Appear in the Final Version of the Education Bill Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum, writing in the March 14, 2002 issue of the Washington Times, claimed that his language was a "provision" of the bill:

At the beginning of the year, President Bush signed into law the "No Child Left Behind" bill. The new law includes a science education provision where Congress states that "where topics are taught that may generate controversy (such as biological evolution), the curriculum should help students to understand the full
range of scientific views that exist." If the Education Board of Ohio does not include intelligent design in the new teaching standards, many students will be denied a first-rate science education.

***************************************************************

Hypocrite and liar all rolled into one wingnut package. Get out of PA.

15. Santorum's words on going to war in Bosnia
" President . . . is once again releasing American military might on a foreign country with an ill-defined objective and no exit strategy. He has yet to tell the Congress how much this operation will cost. And he has not informed our nation's armed forces about how long they will be away from home. These strikes do not make for a sound foreign policy."

16. Do I hear a flip-flop? Is it possible to flip-flop when you're INSANE?
Yesterday, he say that the "pursuit of happiness" is "harming America".

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=4245167

Today he says, "I'm not comfortable with intelligent design being taught in the science classroom."

Who is this Jeckyll and Hyde wackjob? Does he really think anyone is buying this "moderate" crap?

And "a possible 2008 presidential contender"?! In what alternate universe?

He's trying to appear more "normal" catholic in time for his 06 re-election campaign here in PA.

A moderate veneer on a wingnut interior.
