Iraqi gov't complains Kuwait taking their oil
Hubby isn't sure where he read this yesterday- can anyone help me out with a link? Apparently the Iraqi's think some new Kuwaiti oil wells are too close to the border and are taking Iraqi oil instead of their own. Would not that be the ultimate end to this whole fiasco? We put a "democracy" in place and they turn around and invade Kuwait the minute we leaave ( in 10 or 20 years, of course)? Are we going to see deja vu all over again???

1. Isn't that what started the first US war with Iraq back in the day.

2. "Slant Drilling"? Isnt that what caused Gulf War I?
The Kuwaitis can do what ever they want. They are in the BFEE's pocket.

3. I don't know what will happen but
we can't take the side of a fuckin' monarchy against a democracy now can we?
Or is monarchy and inherited rulership one of those things that used to be bad but since Dec. 12, 2000 is now good?

4. Yes!! Slant drilling is why Iraq invaded in Gulf War 1.
AFTER telling the US they were going to do so.

5. They've never stopped slant drilling
It's what caused the initial invasion in '90. Not wanting to defend a thug like Saddam here, but Kuwait had been warned repeatedly back in the day regarding their oil-stealing practices. Given that Iraq gets most of its revenues from the sale of oil, you could see how any country would be justifiably upset about this. But the Al-Khalifa family of Kuwait are, much like their Saudi cousins, buddies with the bush cabal and therefore we had to fight to restore their medieval monarchy.
