I asked a Repub today which side he rooted for when BCCI was investigated
The question came because I asked him why he was rooting for the truth to NOT come out about the CIA leak. It just seems so unAmerican to root for the crime to stay secret.

I asked if he heard of BCCI - he acted like he knew of it - well, I said that at its base, BCCI was all about the funding of global terrorism that was being funded by laundered drug money and illegal arms dealings by international financiers and their banks and government operatives. The bank was finally shut down in 1992.

I asked "Which side were you rooting for then?"

He said, "Our side - the side that shut it down."

I said, "It was John Kerry who investigated BCCI and got it shut down - He was fighting with the Bush1 administration who tried to block the investigation at every turn for 5 years. Some of the same folks we know today as terrorists were being protected by the Bush people."

I then told him that before he roots for more crimes against the constitution he should do some of his own research on the type of cover-ups his side has been involved in over the years, because if BCCI investigation had been allowed to proceed, there would have been no 9-11 or worldwide terrorism networks, or even war in Iraq today.

I told him to google BCCI - Bush - Bath - Bin Laden - Kashoggi - Kerry - and see if he still believed Bush and Rove were outing a CIA agent as a service to the country.

Every American should go out of their way to meet with and educate their elected officials - that should be in the Scouts manual.

11. Read The Outlaw Bank on BCCI. a good book on the story
and it showed how the CIA and military intelligence were using BCCI also. It seems the military academies motto about not tolerating people who lie, cheat and steal...is quickly forgotten once graduation day rolls around !

36. It's how the Bush Crime Family has always made their money. Sell arms
to the dictators or terrorist groups, and then find a political way to get the war on against the same people they armed. Then the clean-up vultures, like Cheney come in to make hay. Repeat.

37. NAILED IT PERFECTLY.
And does anyone think Poppy Bush woke up one day after 93 and decided to just STOP his arms and drugdealing?

No way.

Carlos Menem, former president of Argentina - dear friend of the Bush family - was found guilty of arms dealing just a few years ago. They caught him with a huge shipment of arms going to Iran.

Sometimes I remember to remember they know a lot less than we think they do.

Read - a lot less than they SHOULD know.

really know much about anything. That is what RW talk radio has done - it's dumbed down the electorate.

We should all make it our business to have at least a basic understanding of the BCCI scandal. We should use the facts from that to do exactly what you did. I wish that Kerry had used it better in the last election.

18. I hear you. Only thing I can think of is that it might have messed up the
Plame investigation with the charge of politics. We all know whose side the media would've taken. They were already dogging Wilson as a Kerry campaign operative.

Eventually, history will record the whole story.

38. No. History's VICTORS record the whole story.
Why else did America become from a land of witch trials, Asian exploitation (the railroad years), and slavery into "the melting pot" where Lincoln was a racist?! (the same Lincoln now absconded by the Party of Reagan because Lincoln's values toward labor and laborers are against Reagan's "values".)

voters who just need real facts presented to them.

Do you think Rush Limbaugh would DARE tell the story of BCCI to his listeners? Especially after 9-11?

9. Absolute standing O from me!! Talk about poisoning the well!
This is how we win the "big" issues. You ambush them by probing and watching for reactions where they are acting like they know something about something they obviously don't.... but you do.

Bait them along until you can set a firm position of attack, and lay into them. I've had many try to immediately turn the tables with "well I bet you don't know about this..." be ever so humble and admit your ignorance if you don't and promise to research and learn more if they do the same.

I have also learned that it is wise to end further topical debating at this point as it muddies the memory. Let your argument and plead to do some research stand (and theirs if they offered a good counter). You will totally impress them if you are ready with as much if not more knowledge than any they might possess regarding their counter argument. You'll also be able to mess with them a little bit if they did little or no research on their end, though if you really want to change their mind you'll go easy.

Diplomacy, compromise, tact and dare I say "detente" (be careful with that word some hard core righties go as ballistic with it as liberal or communist)...are the only ways to win such blood boiling debates, and trust me we still have to win over a lot of minds.

Again awesome job, I am sorry I went on so long but you inspired me!

to get his life back again.

He'd still be alive today. He knew Kerry would have opened the books needed to clear his name.

Kerry was the only Senator to publicly point the finger at the CIA's illegal drug-smuggling and dealing.

The OLS forums mostly before the election.

" google BCCI - Bush - Bath - Bin Laden - Kashoggi - Kerry - and see if he still believed Bush and Rove were outing a CIA agent as a service to the country."

Sometimes I would write Saudis,or Sun Myung Moon (money laundering for Iran contra and much more..)but the names all come up and so much information- many of the sites seem very credible- I like consortiumnews for the history.

but of course the rightie mighties just ignore anything from the REALITY based community - they just say it's all liberal lies -even if it is well documented from public and other reliable sources. (just like they do concerning the election fraud.) and our mainstream media does NOT really tell much of the true story at all, so folks just don't get it- learning is empirical-so how can most folks understand? Only when they feel the pain I guess.

One thing to be clear, though, BCCI holds the key to EVERYTHING going on today.

Read this ominous quote from a BCCI official made just last Dec. in England:

http://observer.guardian.co.uk/business/story/0,6903,1376750,00.html

>>>>>>>

Kerry is an acknowledged expert on the long-running BCCI affair, having led a US Senate investigation into the rogue bank more than 10 years ago. BCCI, headquar tered in London, collapsed in 1991 with undeclared debts of £7 billion.

>>>>
Following BCCI's crash, the Bank of England was criticised by Kerry and others for failing to protect investors and depositors. It was later stripped of its regulatory functions, which were passed on to the newly-created Financial Services Authority.
>>>>>

The high-profile case at the High Court in London is expected to run for at least another year.

The Bank of England denies the allegation and is fiercely resisting the claim, which threatens to remove the statutory immunity that government departments have against being sued. A Bank spokesman declined to comment on Kerry's remarks, but added: 'Public officials in America enjoy the same immunity'.

Christopher Grierson of Lovells, the law firm representing BCCI's creditors, said: 'We are very pleased to hear that Senator Kerry supports our action.'
