OK Military Folks... You Tell Me... Is This Guy An " Armed US Soldier"?
Edited on Thu Aug-04-05 05:50 PM by leftchick
Because he just does not look like one to me....

Escorted by an armed US soldier, Iraqi Prime Minister Ibrahim Jaafari, center rear, arrives to attend an Iraqi police graduation ceremony in the southern Iraqi town of Hilla, Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005. Over 400 new policemen graduated during the event. At a press conference held later in the day in Baghdad, Jaafari announced a new security plan for Iraq which had been adopted by government. I have never seen the identity of the mercs hidden in the captions before. They usually always identify them as US Security forces or contractors.

It isn't camouflage, period. If you look at the picture you'd know that much. In case you didn't know, "camouflage" is a mixture of colors (to blend in to one's surroundings). He is not wearing this.

74. the new desert cami has digital-like patterning that is very subtle ....
when you compare them to the old kind. If you look closely at this man's sleeve, you may see a a pattern there that looks like the new cami, admittedly in bright light and poor picture.

All I said in my original post is it looked like desert cami to me.

I didn't mean to insult.

However, look at the camo that US soldiers are wearing here:

(from July 24, 2005)

There are clearly patches of dark brown on the sleeve and vest.

40. Yes but
Saw BlackHawk Down just yesturday and a chopper pilot (Michael Durant I think it was supposed to be) had what appeared to be a MP5K with a flash suppresor that looks alot like the one on the weapon in this pic on his as well. And in the movie that was definately a MP5K (makes a very odd suppressed sound when fired unlike the M4 which sounds like a M16 more or less. But this is splitting hairs so maybe I am wrong but to be honest I don't care that much LOL. Either way looks like something I'd love to "play" around with on a shooting range

Possibly Delta or SF, but I don't think so.

Why are our tax dollars going to guard Iraqi vips? Don't they have Iraqis willing to guard members of their "democratic" government?

Pictures like this show how the Iraqi government is nothing but a puppet government and won't last five minutes after we leave.

69. So we're making progress, huh??
In order to attend a police graduation ceremony, Jaafari has to be escorted by MERCENARIES??

In how many 'democratic' countries in the world is this kind of show of force necessary? I know the chimperator needs huge security because so many people hate his guts, but this guy was just 'elected'.

70. yes indeed, progress!
Evey single one of our US installed puppets uses US Tax dollar paid mercs for protection. Great message to send to the Iraqis eh?

Interestingly the deputy PM, Chalabi, uses his own force. Probably paid with all of that US cash Bremer gave him. :grr:

71. Is it just me, or do all the mercenaries look exactly the same?
It's almost as if they have a uniform all their own. Oakley sunglasses, armored fishing vest, short-barrel assault rifle.

85. Where the hell is his cover?
Anyone who has ever been in the military knows you do not go outside without your cover. Since when did BDU's become so fashionable? I guess in Iraq anything goes.
