1. It's cable, not a network. |
|
so they can't get the same heat that ABC or NBC or whatever got over Janet's God-given breast.
Someone reminded me earlier today.

If enough outrage will be had, i all ready sent in a little email earlier to cnn, i don't know if anything will happen about it, but i hope something does. If the FCC doesn't do something about Novaks language, then there is going to be a lot of finger pointing. I see TNT, TBS, and WGN censoring language, so why shouldn't cnn/novak get into any trouble?

If we did that we would be accused of "political correctness" once again. The right can attack this kind of material all they want without consequence, but for our side there is consequences. It is hypocritical yes, but the right-wing is made up of hypocrites and the media allows them to get by with it.
There has been so many more things said by right-wing pundits, including Novak himself, that are far worse than merely saying the word "bullshit". We should focus on the truly outrageous things that these people say, not on a word that most people hear every day of their lives anyways.
I agree with you that we need to go after them, but this is not the thing to go after them on (other than in the way we are right now, which is merely calling attention to it rather than running to CNN to complain). Novak has already been damaged by this, and as more people hear about it he will be damaged more. We don't need to damage ourselves while he is self-destructing. Lets focus on the racist, homophobic, and just plain evil comments that many of them make on a daily basis instead that will outrage people a lot more than a swear word will.

Given that 90% of the content of CNN is bullshit, it would be the height of irony for anyone to get upset that someone uttered the word "bullshit" on that network.

CNN Suspends Novak After He Walks Off Set
By DAVID BAUDER, AP Television Writer 45 minutes ago
<snip> NEW YORK - CNN suspended commentator Robert Novak indefinitely after he swore and walked off the set Thursday during a debate with Democratic operative James Carville.
The live exchange during CNN's "Inside Politics" came during a discussion of Florida's Senate campaign. CNN correspondent Ed Henry noted when it was over that he had been about to ask Novak about his role in the investigation of the leak of a CIA officer's identity. A CNN spokeswoman, Edie Emery, called Novak's behavior "inexcusable and unacceptable." Novak apologized to CNN, and CNN was apologizing to viewers, she said."We've asked Mr. Novak to take some time off," she said.

17. I hope not. I don't see the big deal. |

I've heard 'shit' and 'bullshit' and 'asshole' a few times in the past year on regular cable and broadcast channels, though not usually in prime-time. It was good - TV should become more realistic. It's amazing to me that you have to have HBO to get anything more than children's book language, straight across the entire TV spectrum. That's just wrong.
Novak is a traitor. That's the problem. He could say 'Fuck this fucking bullshit!' right on TV and it wouldn't make a bit of difference to me. Hoping to redress a traitor, in even a small way, because he said a 'bad word' is absurd. I don't want Bob booted for bullshit just so the good guys can 'win one'. I want America's establishment journalism to stop betraying this country in the deepest ways imaginable. I want Bob behind bars, and I'd like to seem him walking out of the CNN front entrance in cuffs when they arrest him.
