Shout out to all Bostonians! |
|
I an a coworker will be in Boston for the SHARE conference - August 20th-August 27th. Can anybody give us some ideas of 'must see', 'must drink', 'must eat', or 'must hang' places in and around Boston?
Also it would be really cool to meet one night for a Sam Adams or two - I'd love to shoot the shit (no not that shit if the secret service is reading this) with somke fellow DU'ers!
What do you say???

No kidding. It's great. You'll see everything, plus go out onto the Charles River and float around for awhile.
The tour brings you to all around Boston so then you can see where you want to go. Top of the Pru or John Hancock is always fun.

my daughter goes to school there. I would highly recommend The Upper Crust for the best pizza that I have ever had in Boston. I think it is on Beacon Hill and it is not expensive at all. It is a little tiny place. Amazing pizza, and I grew up in New Haven so I do know good pizza. Have a great time Boston is an awesome place!

Massachusetts forum as well.
Don't forget to cross the river and go into Cambridge. Five minutes in Cambridge and your IQ will rise by 20 points by osmosis.

The Black Rose is a great Pub, it's near Fanuiel Hall and just about anybody there will give you directions and you should try to eat at The Union Oyster House. http://www.blackrosepub.com/http://www.unionoysterhouse.com/

12. Things to see (in no particular order)... |
|
o The Boston Museum of Science
o The Museum of Fine Art
o Durgin Park (a steak place in Faneuil Hall's North Marketplace) o Lots of stops along "The Freedom Trail" including Old Granary Buryong Ground (say "Hi!" to Samuel Adams and Paul Revere), King's Chapel Burying Ground, and the Boston Common Burying Ground o Hanover Street in the Italian North End; bring your appetite! o Walk the waterfront from, say, Hannover Street around to Southie and the new Moakley Federal Courthouse, stopping at o The New England Aquarium and ending at o "Noname Seafood" (on the Fish Pier in South Boston)
o Dim Sum in Chinatown
o Drive around in the Big Dig and marvel at how little $14.6 billion buys these days
o The Public Garden, the Boston Common, and the Frog Pond
o The Christian Science Center's mother church (and fountains)
o Copley Square, Trinity Church, the fountains, and the John Hancock tower
o Walk around Hahvud*, MIT*, Boston University, and lots of other fine universities and colleges.
o Go to Harvard Square*, look south and up, and spot the windows of "Dewey, Cheatem, and Howe", aka Click and CLack the Tappet Brothers aka Tom and Ray Magliozzi, the "Car Talk" guys.
Tesha
* Not actually in Boston

http://www.afroammuseum.org/trail.htmIt's like the Freedom Trail from an outsider's perspective. It's uphill both ways, naturally:
