Poll question: Do you think Roberts might be another Souter?
Poppy Bush appointed David Souter who turned out to be a moderate Justice on the Supreme Court and is often allied against the CJ, Fat Tony and Doubting Thomas.

There is now speculation that the boy king might have accidentally appointed another Justice who might turn out to be more moderate than the neocons would like.

What do you think?

1. That argument is a ruse

The one and only thing that concerned Bush in following daddy's footsteps was in never picking a Souter. Maybe it might turn out otherwise. It would be a miracle if so. Or maybe Bush is content not with an economic and political tool not a moral conservative troublemaker.

The odds that he will be bad simply by being a Bush nominee are extremely high. I would not like to find out how by painful experience.

2. What I'm hearing
is that each person he talks with comes away thinking that Roberts is "our kind of Judge". It doesn't matter whether it's a Repub or Dem...they all think the same thing...

In other words, he's a chamelion.

How do you get him to expose his core beliefs? Better yet, does he actually have any core beliefs?

moderate clothing. That's why there was a flood of RW commentary after his nomination about how moderate he is. roberts has been nominated in place of a medal of freedom hanging aroung his neck.

4. Nope
The spotlight on his "work" on gay issues is another attempt to make him palatable to everyone since the initial campaign of "Oh, isn't he such a moderate?" fell kind of flat.
They don't care one way or the other about gay issues as long as their people toe the line on lessening corporate accountability and consolidating power for the ruling classes. Their "support" of anti-gay issues and people is just the use of a hot-button social issue to stir up support for them.

5. He's a young judge...
It's quite possible that even if he starts off as a die-hard neo-conservative, in another 10,20,30 years he just might mellow... Not necessarily the way to bet, or count on, though...
