I was checking out C-SPAN and ran across coverage of the Young America's Foundation "Conservative Student Conference" @ Cornell University.

These budding neocons need to drop their fucking backpacks, pick up a machine gun, shut the FUCK up and SHIP OUT....NOW.

Wonder if the Army has a recruiting booth set up THERE?

1. Because
They don't really care about anything other than their future careers under the next Watergate administration.

12. To send the conference organizer an email, here's the link:
Here's what I just sent him. Please join me in calling these cowards out for what they are:

Mr. Custer:

I ran across your Conservative Student Conference today on C-SPAN. I found it quite intruiging.

What specifically intruiged me is the fact that a room full of healthy, young Americans who call them selves conservative are spending time at a conference when their "President" needs them.

In case your fellow NeoCons failed to forward you and your minions the memo, recruiting has fallen dramatically. More and more Americans realize that the war in Iraq is immoral, illegal and based on lies by the joke of an administration you and your ilk worship.

Your president needs warm bodies on the front NOW. Since your "conservative students" undoubtedly support their president in his disasterous mission of folly, I suggest they should drop their backpacks, grab a gun and put their money where their mouths are.

To do anything less makes them a shameful, shameful lot.

14. The little douchebags think they're better "men" than Pat Tillman.
Pat Tillman, you know, the jock who turned down a multi-million $$ contract extension from the NFL Arizona Cardinals so that he could enlist.

And paid the ultimate price in Afghanistan due to "friendly fire".

15.  like the previous generation of chickenhawks

these chickies have better things to do:

I just love to quote Vivian Lee:

A new generation of Rovian chickenhawks speaks:

"Frankly, I want to be a politician. I'd like to survive to see that," said Vivian Lee, 17, a war supporter visiting the convention from Los Angeles...

( Can't you just smell the stink of smugness and cowardice all mixed together? )

just priceless!

We have TWO recruiting stations within a block of each other in my medium sized SoCal City . They are located near THE busiest intersection in the area; it serves several cities. I never see any activity at the stations... you'd think these "Patriots" would be lining up out the doors.

17. Funny story about my Freeper neighbor
well not really funny ha ha.

Ok my nephew was in the 82nd as a captain and he joined under Clinton--just thought i'd throw that in, anyhow he severed in Afghanistan and then was stop lossed and did 2 tours in Iraq, so anyway my neighbor who has a perfectly healthy 20 year old son has asked me several times about my nephew, how is he, what's it like----has he killed anyone? My standard reply to her when i ask her about why Jr. jas signed up and she tells me "He can do more at home" is---

"There are about 3 job openings a day in Iraq and the army will be more then happy to keep him busy for the next 4 years, they really need people now so really Jr. should join up" Now i always say that with a smile on my face and no sarcasm or anger either because i've found everytime i say that to her or Jr. they quickly come up with an excuse as to why they "have to run now, see you later"

21. Could this be why?
What They Might Have Been

All those lost in wartime
the soldiers sent to combat
civilians too are slain
Bombs cannot target cleanly
not even rifles can
each and every time

What they might have been
these humans lost in war
How many teachers, doctors
spreading learning, sharing healing --
energies unique to them
Gifts to all around them
wherever they might go

Carpenters and plumbers
skillfully constructing things
and handling repairs
that keep the world we live in
in good shape

Pilots, mothers, secretaries
Every role in life as full of meaning
as they fill it

All those lost in war
What might they have been?
What could they have done?
Whom would they have loved --
and given birth to?

War seems like a sin
of vast proportions
when I look far back
to where it all began

When someone flung a stone
at someone else
and crossed a line

Who knew the wars would last
throughout all time
