A question about *'s "funding" of stem-cell research. |
|
Is is not the case that almost all stem-cell research was indirectly funded before * came along?
In other words, weren't the lack of restrictions on stem-cell research a green light to use federal dollars to do such research? And didn't Bush change all that?
And if so, why don't people say as much? Why don't people say, "The only reason he had to fund stem cell research is because he is the only moron who ever restricted the funding in the first place"?
(Yes, I'm listening to Franken.)

1. Clinton authorized use of govt funds |

to do stem cell reseach. There were no exceptions to his mandate. Bush put the controls on it by limiting to existing cell lines. There weren't as many usable as he claimed.

are used in every university in the country.
Did these universities not do their own research all along and are they not now restricted from doing such research?
And wasn't Clinton's move intended to accelerate this research as opposed to sparking it?
