film footage of a B-29 bomber crashed into the Empire State building
Edited on Fri Aug-05-05 10:36 PM by ElsewheresDaughter
or rather the aftermath ....about 2/3 into film the footage is of the Empire State Building

The main part of this film is coverage of a B-29 bomber that crashed into the Empire State building on July 28th, 1945, which killed 14 people. Hadn't heard of it? I heard SOME talk about this story, but never actually seen any footage of it until now. This is pretty amazing footage here of the destruction, both in the building and on the ground. The whole floor looks wasted. Curiously, there is footage of what appears to be a dead clothed man, lying in an empty room of the tower. I guess they just pulled him out and left him there for authorities to pick him up? It's a very chilling and somewhat unworldly scene. If you're interested in September 11th footage, maybe you'd be interested in an historical piece of history that happened before. A MUST SEE

Thanks for the link though.

3. Ever hear of the great Halifax Explosion? Two-thousand people died
During World War I, Halifax, Nova Scotia was a major harbor transfering ammunition and supplies from North America to the battlefields of Europe. Two warships loaded to the decks with hundreds of tons of TNT collided and caused one of the largest explosions in history, leveling the city, killing 2000, and injuring another 9000 people. One of the reasons the explosion was so terrible is that the blast was channeled toward the city of Halifax because the harbor was surrounded by hills on both sides. There was a recent TV movie made about it in Canada.

8. If I'm not mistaken, another massive explosion in TX during WWII
happened in Galveston or something. Munitions ship blew up, then they had Black workers loading the ships, so as to 'cut losses' if another blew up. There was some kind of mutiny, and a few of the Black soldiers were Courts-Martialed....read something about that years ago...

11. Port Chicago
The incident you're speaking of occurred at Port Chicago, an ammo-loading station in the San Francisco Bay. Near Concord Naval Weapons Station, used for decades after the war to load nukes onto subs.

I don't know a lot of the history, but a big bunch of the Black Navy guys were court-martialled. Still bad feelings about it in my hometown, Richmond, CA.

Apparently it was so intense an explosion that it registered on the Richter scale in Berkeley, 30 miles away.

350 Black swabbies killed. A sad day.

5. Is Chicago, Is not Chicago
Lyrics from a 1994 song by Soul Coughing

A man
drives a plane
into the
Chrysler building

Saskatoon is in the room
Poulsbo is in the room
Bennetsville is in the room
Palmyra is in the room

Is Chicago!
Is not Chicago!
Is Chicago!
Is not Chicago!

A man
cuts in half
just like he
snaps a pencil

Khartoum is in the room
Phnom Penh is in the room
Pyongyang is in the room
Cairo is in the room

Is Chicago!
Is not Chicago!
Is Chicago!
Is not Chicago!

I think if a bunch of stoner trip-hop musicians can write a song about a plane crashing into a building that it is pretty silly for the administration to get up there and say "we never imagined planes would be used as missiles."

6. B-25, NOT B-29
B-25 was a two engine bomber, the B-29 was a 4 engine heavy bomber.

WTC-7 collapsed without ANY major impact or fire - & was NOT EVEN MENTIONED in the official report - seems to have been forgotten with all the war & such...

12. Hugh different in fuel Capacities, which is why the towers FELL.
B-25C Max Internal Fuel: 974 Gallons Internal (with the capability of carrying another 855 US gallons of fuel in various but these were only use to ferry the plane from place to place).

The planes the hit the Twin Towers was a Boeing 767, which can carry 23,980 Gallons of Fuel. The plane that hit the Pentagon and Somerset County PA were Boeing 757 which can carry 11,466 gallons of Fuel. Remember it was NOT the impact the cause the towers to collapse but the burning of all that jet fuel.

Now the B-25 was lost in the fog and almost out of fuel when it hit the Empire State building, thus minimal fuel burning. Further the B-25 was a reciprocal air cooled gasoline engine using 130 octane gasoline which would have burned off quickly unlike the much lower octane jet fuel/diesel/kerosene fuel of the the Jets.

19. If you know anything about steel
Steel can be made brittle with the use of temperature and TIME. It is almost predicable if you know the quality of the steel and the temperature you are operating with. Kerosene burns at about 875 degree which is enough over a two hour period to destroy the strength of the steel. No, the "Official" explanation for the collapse of the twin towers being temperature and time is sufficient. (Remember kerosene/jet Fuel is NOT as volatile as gasoline and thus will linger longer than gasoline and all you need is wick to burn it, the furniture in the WTC would be sufficient wick.

Now as to Tower 7, no one nows why it collapse. Speculation is that cheaper steel than was specs were used in its construction. Remember the WTC was built by the New York Port Facilities and thus did NOT have to meet the building codes of New York City. Even after the first bombing in the 1990s the WTC was NOT brought up to NYC fire code (You would have to tear it down to do so). I suspect none of the steel was strong as spec'd, strong enough to last 50 years but not as spec'd.

Thus I do NOT buy into the conspiracy theory as to the destruction of WTC through I do believe they are people covering up the quality of the steel in the WTC for it was only built in the 1960s and many of the firms involved in its construction are still around. Furthermore this includes several of the politicians in NYC for they permitted the WTC to be built WITHOUT many of the requirements it should have had since it was built in the 1960s.

21. a couple of hours is not enough, and cut the "conspiracy theory" bunk
Steel building frames burn for weeks and stay standing. The weakening story doesn't hold water, period.

10. That part with the dead guy was strange...
because he was lying on the floor in an empty room that seemed undamaged.

I'm not sure what the first part of the film is supposed to be other than a warehouse fire.
