1. And i thought I was just being "Ate Up"...
Edited on Sat Aug-06-05 12:30 AM by BiggJawn
By going "Hmmmmm. All these Scouts, waiting HOURS for Il Douche to come swooping in like Hitler at Nuremburg in 'Triumph of the Will', and having to reschedule twice before he got there..."

I used to believe in the scouting movement. then they went all Xian Fundy on us, then the business where "Morally Straight" really was supposed to mean "STR8"...

Now this bullshit with Il Douche...OK, "Bush Jugend" fits.

2. Some comparisons can be made.
I.e. the presence of miltary overtones (balloons etc). I think we all know why Bush took off from his 'busy schedule' to attend the jamboree. Plenty of future fodder.

3. Background
Small point: German girls could not join the Hitler Youth but had their own organisation, the League of German Maidens (BDM). The Hitler Youth (HJ) was specifically for pre-military training. A younger branch, the German Youth (DJ) was the equivalent of the Cub Scouts. All these were more ideological than their US counterparts.

The HJ were militarised early in the war & assigned to anti-aircraft & civil defense duties. Many were also conscripted into ground combat units.
