Is the Pew Research Center right wing?
I can't tell because the right always quotes them, but most of the time they quote their numbers out of context so I can't get a fix if Pew itself is right leaning.

2. Al Franken quotes and uses their results consistently in his books
I think they are fairly unbiased and that's why the RW needs to quote things out of context. Quoting a prestigious group like Pew helps them add, ummm, validity? to their insipid arguments.

3. I don't believe so - it seems to be
very even-handed. I see Andrew Kohut regularly on The Newshour with Jim Lehrer and he just tells it like it is - no embellishments.

The Right would only quote Pew's numbers if it suited their purposes.

4. They're kinda-sorta liberal
Their bias seems to be toward that upper middle class, managerial, meritocratic state of mind.

Not a bad crowd, mind you, but a little square. Likeable, wonkish, good people. I know some people who work for the Pew Charitable Trusts (they raise the money that the PRC spends); liberal, but a bit too "mature". They seriously need to kick their heels up from time to time. This may come off as seeming "right wing" -- but they really aren't.

5. There was a thread that had a New York Time reporting on

Pew Research Center poll on the press. The numbers did not make sense in the New York Times report. So I went to the Pew Research Center Web Site and looked at the actual report. The NYT report was bullshit.

6. Limbaugh calls them "Peeew" like they stink.
But he still quotes them if the results support his side.

7. I'm sure he only does that
to appeal to his religious listeners and to use them when it fits his agenda.

10. The reason I ask...
Is my g/f is doing a project for grad school that required her to read a report done by a Pew group, and the premise (that the Internet is rife with child porn, so people shouldn't mind if it's monitored by the FBI) is so flawed that it had to be based in right wing thinking.

Lincoln said her legislation would help relieve the anxieties experienced by parents due to the lack of control many feel they have over what their children view online. She said it’s time the costs of protecting children online shift from the American taxpayer to “the actual purveyors of online pornography.” The Senate bill is cosponsored by Senators Tom Carper (D-Del.), Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), Mark Pryor (D-Ark.), Mary Landrieu (D-La.), Joe Lieberman (D-Conn.), Ken Salazar (D-Colo.), Evan Bayh (D-Ind.), and Kent Conrad (D-N.D.). The House version was introduced by Reps Jim Matheson (D-Utah) and Robert Menendez (D-N.J.).
