Treason Gate -- A reason for renaming the "War on Terror"
http://citizenspook.blogspot.com/2005/08/treasongate-controlling-law-part-2.html

In light of this, "in a time of war" requirement from 794(b), it's extremely interesting to note the strange public relations circus emanating from Washington regarding the proposed acronym "GSAVE" which has apparently taken over for "GWOT".

GSAVE = Global Struggle Against Violent Extremism

GWOT = Global War Against Terror

Could it be that the Bush administration will start spinning that we were not in a time of war when Rove and others in the Bush administration outed Plame and her team so as to prepare a defense to coming indictments under 794(b) by Patrick Fitzgerald's grand jury?

If we are in a time of war, those involved with outing Valerie Plame and her network are eligible to be prosecuted under 794(b) and therefore are subject to the death penalty.

It's no wonder our plight has shifted from a "war on terror" to a "struggle against violent extremism."

4. "War Against Brown People Who Have Petroleum"
The acronym sucks, but that's what it is. Genocide for oil.

It could be posed as a question to give GOP a clearer meaning:

GOP = Genocide Or Oil?

5. I suspect we're seeing the first influence of Karen Hughs in her
new PR job. I doubt they're trying to say the US wasn't at war when the leak was made though. 3+ years of war talk would be impossible to erase.

I think someone is paying attention to all the comments about "Terror is a method not a person or group" and decided that might be taking hold with the public, so they've got to change the theme song to radical extremists.

I'm waiting for some commentators to begin asking "what is a radical extremist?" Can you consider Jerry Fallwell and Dr. Dobson extremists? Hmmm

8. RE: "3+ years of war talk would be impossible to erase."
That doesn't mean they won't try, and maybe even succeed to some extent. I can imagine, for example, them spinning it something like this:
"The word 'war' can have different meanings in different contexts. It doesn't necessarily mean war in the strict legal sense, like for example WWII. It can mean a struggle or ongoing effort such as the war on drugs."
I can almost hear those words coming out of Rush Limbaugh's mouth. I would scoff at the idea that anyone would actually fall for it, if I hadn't already seen such brazen ploys repeatedly succeed.
