Any Duers in Door County, WI?
I'm heading there for vacation this coming Friday. Where do the libs like to go to hang out? Our house is in Egg Harbor and we subscribe to the Peninsula Music Festival in Fish Creek.

5. Yes, we go there. Also
in Jacksonport is Mike's Pub, great place for a steak sandwich.

I noticed last year that there were more latte places popping up and they were nice. If I stayed longer I'd enroll in a course at The Clearing. It seems like a place that attracts progressives. I always thought the place had a well educated, environmentalist summer population (but then I don't hang out in biker bars or any bars for that matter!).

6. We were just up there a couple of weeks ago
One place that is fun to check out is Al Jonson's Swedish restaurant in Sister Bay. It has a peat roof with goats grazing on it and also lots of waitresses from Sweden. ;-) The food is pretty good too.

8. Just curious... What is Door County like?
I know it's that fingery appendage that juts out from the state. But other than that I have no idea. Is it like the UP of Michigan? Because I've been there.

9. Just like it only different
Actually not like it at all. Much warmer (no Lake Superior)& much more touristy, but still a great place to go.

10. From my Eastern perspective
I think it is a strong arts center and has a lovely state park for camping and biking. Spouse is native Wisconsinite and loves the people (I like them too, they're nice).

There are more upscale restaurants now. You are not limited just to fish fries and fish boils. I like the really fresh lake fish, but truthfully I prefer Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard for saltwater fish. I am also not that crazy about the beaches, since I really prefer the ocean.

There is an amazing lack of signs of poverty, at least in the upper part of the county. The middle of the county is full of dairy farms, the lake and by sides are tourist spots, restaurants, shops, art galleries. It is very neat and clean, too.

Lots to like. I just never knew where to find my fellow liberals. So I asked!

11. If you like CA wine, check out the relatively new "Stone's Throw"
winery out side of Bailey's Harbor. They pick grapes in CA, ship them to Door county in refrigerated trucks and then make the wine in WI. Some are quite good. I recommend the Reserve Merlot. Wine tasting for $3.

There are also several cherry wineries in the area, for example
