Wolf Blitzer, CNN Late Edition - talking about Cindy Sheehan
about 20 minutes ago...

Blitzer asked Republican Senator George Allen if Bush should meet with Sheehan. Allen is said yes. Barbara Boxer also said yes.

Blitzer says they are going to talk to Cindy Sheehan later in the show.

2. Did you notice Boxer got so little time to speak. When she did try to
Edited on Sun Aug-07-05 11:57 AM by KoKo01
express her views Blitzer constantly interrupted her, challenging her, but Allen was allowed to go on and on and one with no interruptions. Also when Boxer tried to speak the camera showed "split screen" with Allen smirking at her replies all to give the viewer the impression that Allen thought she was silly. :eyes:

Blitzer also had a scolding tone with Boxer and glowered at her when he asked her questions almost as if he was the school principle acusing her of lying about whether she did her homework or not.

It was so disgusting. Also the kept referring to Sheehan as "the woman," or "that woman." If Sheehan had been a Republican pushing some cause he would have said "distraught mother," "grieving mother whose son was killed." Not "that woman." He also read a statement the Bushies rushed over to him that Bush has already met with Sheehan (along with other mothers of soldiers who died.) So he was discounting her wanting to meet with Bush individually. WH didn't waste any time getting that talking point over to whore Blitzer.

Boxer was excellent in the short time she had to reply. Pressing that the reasons we went to war with Iraq have changed several times with the Bushies and that we have no timetable or benchmarks for getting out of the situation. She said that we are NOT safer while Allen said we went to war in Iraq because they sent "scud missles" in to Israel and were supporting attacks on Israel. (I think Allen is trying to blend Gulf War I with the current situation...another Repug shif to change the subject from NO WMD.)

Anyway the whole thing wasn't worth watching. I turned it off before the interview with Sheehan...because I couldn't handle anymore of Blitzer lauding it over the audience and Boxer that Democrats are not welcome on CNN unless they spout the Republican line like Biden.

:nuke: It's so bad--the clampdown on any real news. And, they don't even seem to care...these Media Giants who own it all.

4. You beat me to it!
First of all, George Stevens drivels on and on and on with a stupidass smirk on his face, like he knows each useless word he spews takes away from Boxer's time. Then Wolfie doesn't call him on it (Wolfie is too busy admiring his image in that shiny box in the corner), and yes, Boxer was excellent in the few minutes she had.
Personally I don't know how she maintains her good humor and composure in these kinds of situations.
Blitzer is an ass.

7. I didn't see the Boxer/Allen piece.
I did see Blitzer interview Cindy Sheehan. He didn't interrupt her, was respectful (IMO), but he did look like he was constipated or something...rather uncomfortable, anyway.
She was wonderful.
I think Wolfie may have learned a thing or two from Ms. Sheehan. At least I hope so.
The fact that she has had so much media coverage (again, just my opinion) in the last 24 hours is pretty amazing.
I hope there's more favorable MSM coverage about Cindy to come.
