Anti abortion group sues stem cell institute on behalf of embryos!
They've finally gone over the deep end!

A national anti-abortion group yesterday served the administrators of California's stem cell institute with a federal lawsuit seeking to stop their work on the grounds that the civil rights of frozen embryos are violated by stem cell research.
The lawsuit was delivered during a a monthly meeting of the institute's oversight committee at the University of California San Diego. Around the same time it arrived, committee Chairman Robert Klein was announcing that several lawsuits filed in state court had been consolidated to be heard by one judge, in one county, on an expedited basis.

That litigation has blocked the sale of government-backed bonds to fund the institute, which is supposed to award $300 million annually for stem cell research.

The federal lawsuit, filed by the National Association for the Advancement of Preborn Children, could now further delay the sale of bonds.

giving civil rights to a small collection of cells which have yet to develop into anything yet. I didn't learn about that one in any of my civics, political science, and american history courses.

4. That's because you were unfortunate enough
to not have Intelligent Design available in your high school! Remember, we got that old fashioned kind of education based on science.

PS I think they actually named the cells "Doe" in the lawsuit.

Remember, we now have the "Constitution in exile" back from wherever it was exiled to. Aren't you relieved and overwhelmingly joyful? Praise Jeebus.

7. Ghee how long until they file a class action lawsuit against
men who masturbate? Every sperm is sacred. And of course every time a woman menstruates well she isn't denying her eggs a chance at life.

9. This is the last straw; this country is finished. Looney tunes are
in total control. Don't the parents who originally made the stem cells have the right to give permission for their use in research? What is this all about? They could not possibly think that stem cells have rights. After the next election if these fools masquerading as Christians are not defeated, I am out of here.

35. That's the whole problem.
Once they start this ball rolling the logical conclusion is absurd. But, then again, when you value a group of cells more that a human being that could possibly be cured of a ravaging disease, you are absurd. But they don't know exactly how absurd they are.

I'm sure no lawyer, but I though you had to file suit in behalf of a person, or a corporation (which is considered by law to be an person) I didn't think anyone could sure on behalf of a possession. I'm assuiming that these embryos belong to the donors, so they are a possesion, right? What am I missing here?
