Do any tv systems have both "Current TV" and "Free Speech TV?"
Edited on Sun Aug-07-05 09:44 PM by Eric J in MN
I have a choice of "Comcast" digital cable ("Current TV" but not "Free Speech TV") or "The Dish Network" satellite ("Free Speech TV" but not "Current TV.")

"Current TV" is the new Al Gore channel.

"Free Speech TV" is a channel which shows "Democracy Now!" and "Liberty News Television."

1. I now have neither, sadly so.
Wait. I didn't know Comcast had Current TV... I gave-up the Dish and miss Democracy Now/Link TV already.

Am ready to switch back.

5. I haven't seen it yet. You can click around the front page
of the Current website on the left and see the topics of their videos and decide:
www.current.tv

Amy Goodman announces it everyday - 385? 387?

Or is that LINK on Direct?

19. O.K. ... so it is probably on LINK on Direct,
but Free Speech is only on DISH.

And I do watch Free Speech for quite a bit more than Democracy Now.

In fact, when I cancelled Direct, after several years, they asked why, and I told them that I enjoyed Free Speech TV!

I thought Direct got it after that; I guess not.

18. No, that is the LinkTV rebroadcast of Democracy Now, not FSTV
which has a lot more than DN! in its programming.

22. All 3 would be great
I don't get the streaming video from Current TV, assuming that is what is "loading" forever on the home page, but some of the archived videos at http://www.current.tv/featured/ are intriquing. I get LinkTV and FSTV on Dish; DirectTV has Link and Current. FSTV seems a bit harder-hitting than Link (they showed the documentary on the US-Northern Alliance massacre of prisoners in Afghanistan, but they are both very valuable independent sources for news and information and a truly "pro life" point of view.

25. "Current TV" doesn't have a webstream.
It is the schedule of upcoming videos which loads on the front page of:
www.current.tv

21. Yes, I agree it has much more.
We must have posted at the same time - because I was thinking that at the same time you were!

I just loved that show on the clinic escorts in Wisconsin; I saw it last night.

I'm actually hooked on FSTV.

28. Does Current have any news programming?
Or is it strictly just uploaded video segments from the public? I didn't see any mention of news on the site but haven't seen it on air, so I don't know.

29. They don't have any new news. They show historical clips,
about the shooting or Ronald Reagan and the LA Riots of the early 90s, via CBS News.

7. FSTV is only on Dish Network
(Ch 9415)- see http://www.freespeech.org/fscm2/genx.php?name=home which does not carry CurrentTV at this point. They might be convinced to add it.

10. Link TV should be even better in 2007.
It will be showing "Independent World Television" shows in 2007.

Here are the shows:

24. I'll try to call "Dish Network" this week and tell them that
if they get "Current" I'll be more likely to order their service.

Persuading "Dish Netowrk" to add "Current" seems like it should be within the ability of progressive activists.

14. Link TV is on Dish Network also.
Just to clarify, so that isn't really any basis for choosing between Dish and Direct. The trade-off is between FSTV and CurrentTV, at least unless Dish adds CurrentTV.

26. I called my Comcast provider about Current TV yesterday and this is odd
1) Channel 254 on the on-screen viewing guide says channel 254 is Current TV. However, there isn't anything there on that channel.

2) The guy on the phone says they haven't received any bulletins saying that Current TV is a planned addition.

So, if you have Comcast, check your viewing guide and see if you have it as an emptty channel.

Call your cable company and ask for Current TV and Logo.

Also, if you go to http://www.Current.TV they have an online form you can fill out to email your cable company.

No surprise I had to drive 50 mile to watch F9/11 because none of the national chains would show it in my city.
