The Media loves a good story; they would probably not have been quite as complacent, but the might have largely supported going to war (because war is good television).

Of course if the story was "Clinton invading Iraq because he wants to distract public from Monica Lewinsky" well that story rights itself.

in 1998. The media played up the Repuke talking points that Clinton was firing missiles at Iraq to draw attention away from Zippergate . . .

Then, in 2001, there was a lot of grousing by the Repukes that we didn't have enough missiles because Bill Clinton shot them all while deflecting attention from the impeachment - all the while saying that Clinton didn't do enough about terrorism & Iraq . . .
