Choice Freeper Quotes on the Death of Peter Jennings
Edited on Mon Aug-08-05 10:22 AM by DemsUnite

A poster at Liberal Underground found these...

"There are servicemen who died in Iraq, because of Jennings reporting. There are folks who died in this country because Jennings did his best to disarm them, by shaping public opinion about guns. Certainly that was his right. Facts are stubborn things. Now he faces them. Unaddorned. No Spin. He gets to meet his dead brethren."

"I would far more preferred that Mr. Jennings be "retired" by the new media. He could then join Walter "North Viet Nam Communists' most trusted man in America" Cronkite where the two of them could polish and admire NV Communist Gen. Giap's "Most Valuable Guerrilla Award" that the two men shared (along with most of the American press)."

"I hope he enters eternal life, so that he will know for eternity, that he was wrong about his prescription for attaining the greatest good for the largest number of folks possible."

Many more here...

19. "people"?
What in the world would make you think that these reptilian-brained bipeds qualify as people? :7

Interesting, they can seldom restrain themselves. Once they begin to insult someone, they have to drag out every vituperative remark in their repertoire.

3. They are a bunch of hateful cretins.
And you notice the ones that disagree with them always say some line like "don't stoop to DUers level" or something like that. What BS.

4. Funny how reporting, and not lack of armor, gets people killed.
Funny how "don't blame Bush blame Alqaeda and the terrorists" is a sentiment that doesn't apply to anything BUT bush.

between Jennings and Hannity. Hannity along with Limbaugh and others are hatemongers not journalists.

6. I appreciate what you're trying to do, but
threads like these about Freepers "thoughts" always remind me of someone walking down the street, picking up dog shit and bringing it home to their living room.

If I cared what freepers say, I'd go there.

Why must we always pollute DU with freeper shit?

Ronald Reagan upon his death, if at all.

It is possible to loathe someone and everything they stand for, but still maintain a measure of respect upon his/her death. It doesn't make you a hypocrite; it's (for me, at least) a way of acknowledging their life as an important one, whether you agreed with their ideas or not.

29. I was not a member
of DU during the coverage of Reagan's death, so I am not familiar with the mood here then. I don't have a problem with people who "respectfully disagree" with someone upon their passing and have nice remarks to say about them. I do have a problem with people that post hateful things about people that serve no purpose but to be political when the forum is not.

30. And I agree...
I was just saying that both sides post hateful things. Whether they're merited or not, I can't say. I don't think I'm guilty of saying anything too hateful towards Raygun, though I've never had much good to say about him, either. When he died, I simply said that I hoped he rested peacefully.

Some DUers...went the other way, to say the least. It was certainly an interesting few days.

31. I guess when u look at the big picture
it's not hard to say truly mean things about people when they are alive, however, to say them when they are dead, there is just a point when u should shut up if u don't have anything nice to say. Maybe this sounds corny but just how I feel

18. Why do they hate America?
Why would they rather be lied to by O'Reilly than have a free press?

Why do they live in a country where a free press keeps tabs on government lies as the founding intended when they obviously don't mind being lied about war?

Why are they not angry at a government who lied to them about Vietnam, and got so many of their fellow Americans killed, but ARE angry at those who saved the lives of many more by stopping the war?

Why do they not leave and go somewhere that's better suited to their ideology? This is America where, when the government lies about war, we expect the press to tell us about it. If you don't like it, leave it. Iow, in words they are familiar with 'America, love it or leave it, you'll be happier somewhere else! Unbelievable!
