Cindy arrest: why the warning so far in advance?
Wouldn't it be more Bushco style to arrest her in the middle of the night without any warning?

Why a warning that they knew would be made public, three days in advance, to someone they know isn't likely to back down?

Whoever issued the warning is either:

a) Colosally stupid; or
b) Trying to create embarassment for BushCo.

1. Oh, who knows?
I can never figure out anything they do. My mind just won't sink that low, I guess.

3. Are they really that stupid?

She wouldn't be there sweltering in the Sun and exposing herself to the BushCo smear machine if a threat of arrest would scare her off.

5. right, plus...
with a warning, all the idiots will pretty much dismiss it as "she knew it would happen", completely ignoring the fact that she has every right to be there. It's a PR ploy.

7. Here's my guess
They tell her in advance because they know that this is going to be a PR nightmare no matter what they do. Now they can say that she was warned and they were justified. Some people (I live in Texas, I know how people think) will say that she should have left if she didn't want to get arrested. If they grabbed her in the middle of the night, there would be no pity.

I don't think she'll leave, I know she'll call the bluff. What happens AFTER that?

14. I think you're right.
It's still so supremely stupid, because no matter how much they think they've convinced people it was justified, hauling off a mom who lost her son in the war in handcuffs will not look good, to put it mildly.

More and more, I think they just don't give a shit. Bush really doesn't think it matters what others think, and doesn't care how this will go down. The Republicans, if they were smart, would have cut and run a long time ago, because he's likely to take the whole party down with him.

8. Maybe for this: (and the spin the RW will use)
Maybe they told her if she stays at that location past wednesday she will be violating some law,(some obscure law they plan to use - like no sleeping near a roadway for more then X days...)

Hell who knows.

But here is their spin as I see it now:
They will say she planned to be arrested that day and it was all a ruse, that they never told her anything of the sort and she lied and then did something to intentionally get arrested.

9. I don't know, maybe they want to raise her profile
Which lends itself to all kinds of scary speculation as to why they might want to do that. But there is a simple three step way to use this to their advantage.

A - Set Ms. Seehan up as a representative of the anti-war movement.
B - Discredit and humiliate Ms. Seehan.
C - Declare the Anti War Movement Discredited/humiliated.

Simple as A,B,C - but I hope they can't actually pull it off.

10. Thanks for asking the question, Goldmund!
There's always some ulterior motive with any move bu$hco makes. But why something as politically suicidal as this? What was that Zappa said about the crux of the biscuit?

11. No, they warn her Thursday, then come on Wednesday.

Classic tactic. They figure she won't be prepared for problems Wednesday since she's been told there won't be problems till Thursday, so the media won't be there.

13. To set us up for when Bush, with Condi & Rummy at his side to
dominate the conversation..has a 4 hour talk with Cindy. So we will be even more surprised. Just like during the debates. They run Bush down and almost call him stupid - then when he surpaces low expectations..people are charmed.

My guess.

15. She's been warned. Now it's her fault if she's arrested. There may be
a "Free Speech Area" somewhere that she's ignoring - maybe at the other end of town.

After she's gone Bush can come out and say "Hey - where'd she go? I came out to see what this is all about and it turns out she's been breakng laws all this time?"

18. Hmmm
maybe who ever gave her the warning was trying to assure she had time to alert folks so that it would in fact be a big deal. Maybe someone in the FBI or SS want her to get as much press as possible...

I know there are some FBI and SS folks that are none too pleased with this administration and this may be the only way they can provide some support.

19. So that thousands show up

create a 'riot'.

Than this turns into the Pes needed saving from the left wing whacko's.

I think she needs to do this alone, with lots of support waiting in the wings.

Send postcards and shut down the crawford post office.
Send water and food.
Send LTTE's.
Email news outlets.
Fax and email senators - they stopped work for Terry Schiavo - how is this less important?

It's a lose-lose for *.
He meets with her -he's weak and sets a precedent. Admits he's wrong on the war.
He arrests her - he's mean and evil.

Stand back and watch the mayhem.
