Should I stay or should I go? This is our flashpoint, people! |
|
Edited on Mon Aug-08-05 04:17 PM by MindPilot
If you are in a position to go to Crawford, I say go! There are many who can't; this is what I think those of us in that position should be doing. Local organizers, get people ready to be in the streets the moment word comes down Cindy has been arrested. Hundreds maybe thousands of local demonstrations all over the country can't be ignored. By Saturday, when a majority of us can be out, we can have a pretty strong showing.
Start calling the leadership people: Howard Dean, Barbra Boxer, John Conyers, and whoever else is on our side. Ask them to either go to Crawford, or at the very least issue a public statement.
Somebody from AAR--like Randi Rhodes--should be doing a live remote from Crawford. Need money for that? Let's start raising some. Howard?
Edited for typos
Edited again to emphsise Howard Dean NEEDS TO BE IN CRAWFORD. In front of the cameras, standing with Cindy, he can rally and unify the party in about 30 seconds.

Look, there is a mom waiting by the side of the road, hoping that the President will come out and talk to her. She has the same questions that millions of us have, and if you live anywhere near Crawford and can afford the time off and cost to get there, GET THERE!
I live in WA state, and if my car wasn't a lemon, I'd be on my way NOW! I've never marched for anything, I've never protested anything, but I'm a mom. And at the rate this war is going, when my 7 year old son and daughter become 18, they're going to be off fighting somewhere in the Middle East because of this administration.

Is that requires alot of organization, alot of bodies knowing what the other bodies are doing and alot of communication with the folks in Crawford.
Im sure things will start jelling more today and more solid plans can be discussed.
I know there are alot of DUers would would be more then happy to donate money towards an attainable solid plan.

email to fax is cheap and practically preinstalled on most computers. If you still have your 56 K modem, you have a fax modem. If not, there's a lot of software out there that will let you fax from a faster connection.
Fax, don't email. It gets through better. A phone call is good too, but a fax is faster and you can say more in a fax.
the DNC fax number is
dnc fax: 202-488-5078
Your reps also have fax numbers, as do other media outlets.

6. Agreed, If you at all can GO |
|
It would also be very good if Howard Dean and maybe other Democratic leaders went.

9. I disagree, the DNC should stay home |
|
If Howard Dean or other DNC folk started showing up, this would be tagged as "partisan politics" , blah blah blah. I don't see how politicians being there would help anything.

11. But more so if politicians show up |
|
Granted I only saw a little bit on CNN on the story, but it didn't look like they were villifying Cindy. Public opinion is swinging in our direction, and having democratic senators there will just make it look like they are trying to take advantage of the situation and score "political points". They should continue to hammer Iraq but otherwise stay out of this situation IMO..

and no don't wait for organization, go if you can... a spontaneous happening is more desirable, it shows people really upset and ready to go into action to affect change....much better than planned events....

8. I think you should go; |
|
weirdly enough I was looking at the map and thinking of going by myself--Michael has to work...but, for some reason, I think there are tons of people who are going to feel compelled to go ruin that asshole's vacation.
