The Next Dem President Will Be CRUCIFIED |
|
on taxes alone.
see Bush isn't paying for this bullshit war. he put it on a credit card. why?
so the repukes can put off the inevidable and wait for a Dem to get in office so THEY can deal with the costs (probably by raising taxes), thereby giving them 4 or 8 years of lambasting the President over the economy.
the media will go along and the sheeple will forget these days and blame the Dems for doing what it takes to pay this bill that will come due.
bank it.

2. democratic presidents are always crucified |
|
Look at Clinton--eight years of non-stop bullshit from the media repeating every republican lie under the sun. Compare that to the dimwit son who has gotten pretty much a free ride these last five years.

you left out that - just to get to a balanced budget he/she will have to raise taxes, and cut just about every program. Also, he/she won't be able to take any protectionist measures against China because China owns 400 billion of that debt and, if provoked, could flood the market with US bonds and sink the US economy.

4. I've thought that for awhile. |

Whoever gets elected is going to be fucked especially if they are a Dem.
The party of personal responsibility sure hates paying their bills.

5. Yeah, but what other choice do we have? |
|
It'll take years to fix the economy and our diplomatic relations, but what other choice is there?
So many of our Dem presidents oversaw the 'rebuilding' phases of our country... Guess we'll just have to roll up the shirtsleeves and do it again!

|
Fraud is a big one. Proving they're lying in order to advance an ulterior motive (e.g. lining their pockets with lobbyist money) proves they're committing fraud.

I think an important thing the Dems will need to do is what they SHOULD have done after Watergate: investigate ALL the corruption!
Will they do it? Who knows?! If there are dirty Dems at the top that somehow helped in all this, probably not...

6. I think they cut taxes for two reasons: |
|
Edited on Mon Aug-08-05 04:29 PM by Stirk
1. Because their wealthy supporters don't want to pay
2. To starve the government and create an excuse for cutting social programs to the bone.
A Democratic president could fix the whole thing with minimal public outcry by just raising the taxes on the wealthy and lowering them on everyone else. Cut back on corporate welfare to boot.

7. this is why the calls for justice can't stop when a dem prez gets in |
|
The propagandists need to be arrested.
The neocon corruption needs to be aggressively pursued; Iran-Contra-style "getting away with it" is not an acceptable conclusion to this (if in fact we get out of it intact).

9. and imprisoning the propagandists repays the national debt how? |
|
i agree any criminal element in the government needs to be arrested, but there have to be solutions to paying down deficits and the national debt other than "arrest them all."
i'm inclined to bring back some form of tariffs on goods coming into the country in order to bring in additional revenue for the government.

10. arresting them all gets them out of circulation so they don't do it again |
|
Also, there's a lot of embezzlement the criminal element within the government commits, so it actually does help pay the national debt.

|
Edited on Mon Aug-08-05 04:39 PM by IanDB1
Enron, Worldcom, Halliburton, Baine Capital, The Carlyle Group...
There are billions and billions of dollars just waiting to be harvested.
Plus, how many trillions if we freeze Saudi Arabia's assets?
It's all THEIR mess. They should pay to clean it up.

Had to use caps for that one.
It is so clear after decades of disastrous Republican policies that real conservatives should now feel free to join the Democratic Party.
