"As former president Clinton went out of his way to say...." |
|
ABC anchor leading into a story about Peter Jennings' rapport with children. Was the "out of his way" a swipe at Bush's remarks about Jennings? (Since we all know it's no effort for Bill to talk an hour or so on any subject.)

1. I hope this is not disrespectful...... |

I hope this is not disrespectful to Mr. Jennings' memory, because I do not intend it to be. But this thread about Clinton's comments on Peter Jennings got me to thinking about their interview last November, during the dedication of the library.
Remember when Peter was interviewing Clinton on tv, asked him about Lewinsky, and Clinton said "Don't go there Peter." Clinton went on to take ABC to task for how they covered the Lewinsky story.

2. Maybe that's why they said "out of his way." |
|
Clinton took the trouble to say something nice about a man who had given him reason to say nothing nice. And they knew it.

I think so too. It goes to show the type of class that Clinton is. Compare that to George who won't meet with a mother who lost her son in Iraq. Clinton is a class act and always have been. At least in the public. Only his friends and family know if he's that way in private but where it matters he was a class act.

President Clinton is a true class act.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. President Clinton has been called everything under the sun except a child of God. If he wanted to, he'd have every right to be a bitter and angry man.
Yet, you see no evidence of that. To me, he's the living embodiment of the scripture that says "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you." (Matthew 5:44)

3. I don't think so. I think the anchor was trying to put some of the spin to |
|
rest. Jennings was doing his job, and I would hope that Clinton would respect that.
