We should all start wearing GOLD STARS
As a show of support for Cindy and all the other Gold Star Families, it would be great if there were a nationwide effort to get everyone to wear gold stars. Wear them with yellow ribbons and flags, wear them EVERYWHERE and wear them in honor of Cindy and the Gold Star Families for Peace.

Maybe I will do just that. Thank you for the idea. It will be spread around to my limited circle of friends.

6. You know what, pasting a great, big gold star on my home, car, shirt,...
,...would be an honor in remembrance of what Cindy represents: THE TRUTH on behalf of our soldiers, our people, our nation!!!!

7. Where could we get large quantities?
Anyone out there know anything about how to make big batches of gold stars? I would love to see the streets full of people showing their silent solidarity with the Gold Star Families.

10. I like the idea of some sort of symbolism
But wouldn't someone who didn't lose a loved one in the war wearing a gold star dilute the true meaning of the gold star?
It signifies the loss of THAT family's soldier.
We can empathize with Cindy, but we truly can't feel her pain or feel her loss.
My suggestion is to let the gold star families wear their gold stars and we find another type of symbol.
Just my thoughts on it.

11. I agree. You don't wear a symbol unless you've earned it.

12. I'm with you two -
unless you have a loved one killed in a combat zone, don't wear one.

14. thanks
I was gonna say "not a problem" but that would be a lie. I can't say it is easy being married to someone in the military, especially when my career/school kept me in a different state even when he was in the USA. We've lived in different states or areas of the world for 4 of the 5 years we've been married. He is currently stationed in Korea. :sigh:

17. I saw all that when I was in the military. I waited until I was out...
to start a family. I'm sure it can be difficult.

16. I think that's right
The Gold Star is a symbol of a particular thing. Those of us who haven't lost immediate family should not wear one. Something else would be good, but not that.

21. Yeah, I agree.
Gold stars should be reserved for those that have lost a loved one in the war. We should pick some other type of symbol to show our support. And I think that those who oppose Cindy should wear yellow-bellied Chickenhawk pins to show support for their (mis)leader. ;)

18. Maybe we could add a purple heart bandaid as well
Unless you have lost a loved one in battle I think it is a very bad idea.

19. My grandmother is a Gold Star Widow
She lost her first husband in WWII when she was 19.

And when I was in college, the dorms with a gold star on the door meant that someone who died in WWI or WWII once lived there.

I don't think it would be appropriate for me to wear that symbol.
