Military Families to Join Cindy Sheehan in Crawford; Gold Star and Military Families from Across Country on Their Way to Texas

CRAWFORD, Texas, Aug. 9 /U.S. Newswire/ -- More members of Gold Star Families for Peace (GSFP) and Military Families Speak Out (MFSO) are traveling to Texas to join the protest outside of President Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas, where he is vacationing for the month of August.

Starting today, Gold Star families from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Arkansas and other states whose loved ones have died as a result of the war in Iraq will be joining one of their members, Cindy Sheehan, at the protest. Ms. Sheehan, whose son Army Specialist Casey Sheehan was killed in Sadr City, Iraq on April 4, 2004, has been in Crawford since August 5th, demanding a meeting with the President. These families will be joined by military families with loved ones currently serving in Iraq or about to deploy or redeploy to Iraq. All of these families are coming to Crawford, Texas to share their stories about the personal costs of the war in Iraq and add their voices to the call for a meeting with President Bush.

On August 3, 2005 President Bush, speaking about the dreadful loss of life in Iraq in early August, said "We have to honor the sacrifices of the fallen by completing the mission... The families of the fallen can be assured that they died for a noble cause." Gold Star and military families coming to Crawford know that the cause was not noble; that their loved ones died, or are currently in harm's way, serving in a war based on lies.

In the first 8 days of August, 36 service members died in Iraq; countless Iraq children, women and men are dying each day. All of the families traveling to Crawford will carry the message to the vacationing President: Honor our fallen and honor our loved ones' service by ending the occupation, bringing the troops home now and taking care of them when they get here.

3. Can you show me where
to find who said she was going to be arrested on Thursday? Someone here last night said it was only a rumor, but I can't find that posting, and I can't find where this started. I am trying to get the actual quote, or at least who said it.

5. Just off the top of my head
I think the post you are referring to from last night was from Dylan Garcia (sp?). He stated that her arrest on Thursday is still just a rumor.

As far as WHO told Cindy she would be arrested, I believe Ed Schultz actually called down to Crawford and found out it was a local official.

9. It started with Cindy...
... herself. Supposedly someone in the know told her it was likely, and that the meetings Thursday and Friday would be used as the "national security" reason.

10. Cindy was on a local Houston affiliate last night and said
state reps insinuated they would be arrested; this a.m. on GMA she said there were rumors swirling about the upcoming arrests but didn't state the source or if there was one. I too am wondering who started the rumors.

18. I think a local cop said something like
he wouldn't be surprised if they were asked to move on Thursday for
security reasons. It sounded like he was saying that based on what he knew about who was arriving at the ranch (Rice and Cheney) and maybe somes scuttlebut around the station. Who knows. But it's understandable
that it could be taken as a heads-up that something like an order to move or be arrested, might happen on Thursday.

8. "In the name of 1,828 soldiers that should be alive,
I'm going to see the president," said Cindy Sheehan, "He killed my son."

making this war so visible and helping to stop it so much sooner than Vietnam was stopped. Vietnam went on 10 years and millions died or were maimed. This war has so far not reached that level and if the current level of anti-war activism keeps up (no reason to think it won't) it's unlikely to do so.

I wonder if we can cut off support for the next war before troops go in?

I sure hope so! :hippie:
