Watching Pentagon press briefing...
Rumsfeld is saying that Iranian weapons have been found in Iraq.

Boy, they really are prepping us for an Iranian strike aren't they?

... place.

HOW is it going to make us safer invading and conquering sovereign nations in the Mid-East? Doesn't that make things WORSE?! Doesn't that make us imperialistic dicks?

WHY is it okay to invade and conquer a sovereign nation, unless it is a clear-cut, pure case of immediate self-defense?

WHY is the Bush Doctrine even remotely acceptable? Isn't it against all commonly accepted standards of international law (which we may or may not be subject to).

2. Ahhh... so Iran is fighting us in Iraq. They know WMDs ain't enough...
... anymore.

So now it's "mushroom clouds" AND "they're already attacking us!"

Never mind that WE created that situation, and we have so little control over it, that of course a few militants are going to be able to cross the border and fight the "infidels" (that is if you can believe anything at all that comes out of their mouths).

3. i think it's interesting that the press
asks pretty hard questions now to both the Pentagon and the WH, but none of it is reported or written about by the same reporters that are grilling Scotty and Rummy. They grill them during press conferences and then shut-up about it on the news or in print. ass-backwards reporting.

13. Rummy's last comment was scary
something like:

"What IS perfectly clear is that the government of Iran didn't PREVENT the shipment" (of weapons to Iraq)

That's the game folks.......Iran didn't PREVENT the shipment so they must be behind them....this is the rationale for bombing/invading Iran that they've been looking for.

so we should invade ourselves for harboring terrorists.

Plus fifteen of the nineteen hijackers are supposivley from Saudi Arabia even though we attacked Afgahinstan with no proof to really back up the claim.

29. One thing that always gets me
is how we tell other countries they don't have the right to protect themselves while we're going around and doing mass murder in Iraq. We're such hypocrites and we're the country number one where it concerns having WMD's but you don't see other countries telling us we can't defend ourselves.

4. Of course adn they are going the Cambodia route
For the record I have no doubts that there may be some support from fellow Arab and Persian supporters, it is a Jihad for many of them, but telling the identiy and origin of an AK 47 is a tad hard... first off, Chinese licence or Ruskie? Second how many millions were produced? Wow I am impressed taht they can trace an AK to Iran, if you get my drift

all this talk of nukes and non-proliferation is just the haves saying to the have-nots : we will not tolerate you disturbing our supreme reign.

Holds no water at ALL. And don't come telling me uh-oh but these are some theocratic, fundamendalist dictators and such stuff. I know of one which I consider to be a madman at the helm of the biggest war budget on earth.

Sure Iran has "weapons" -- probably some AK-47s. Tanks.

And, yer point would be?

Let me tell you who has weapons.

The US military has 725 bases in 132 countries. The US has a total of 1,389,000 men and women on active duty.

That's more than the entire state of Idaho (1.37 million). Or, it's more than the entire state of Maine (1.3 million); or, it's more than the entire state of New Hampshire (1.3 million).
{Source: Almanac population figures July 2003 http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0110379.html}

Payroll for these uniformed personnel is nearly $80 billion a year.

The US spends 37% of all the money spent anywhere in the globe on military. The US is the world's largest arms seller, responsible for 47 percent of all munitions transfers between 1996 and 2000.

The US has 8,820 nuclear bombs, plus 10,000 in storage. Apparently that is not sufficient, because the government has authorized expenditure of an additional $20 billion for nuclear weapons.

{Source for statistics: The Sorrows of Empire by Chalmers Johnson}

As we commemorate the 60th anniversary of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, let's remember, there's only been one country to ever drop nuclear weapons on a city ... United States of America.

25. Right...withdrawing troops from Iraq so we can send them to Iran.
If this administration thinks that Iran is going to roll over for them, they are sadly mistaken. The mess in Iraq will seem like a vacation compared to the shitstorm that Iran will bring.

These people are absolutely, certifiably, insane!!!

I saw this about a week ago on Sunday afternoon on the CNN scroll that there is plans to start withdrawing in Spring of 2006 just in time for the midterms. Looks like Bush wants to start early because people are losing their support and aren't afraid enough.

Iran restarts nuclear program. Something like that. I mumble to myself, why bother! we all are going to die anyway. I'm having a hard time living in this bizarro world. I feel all the information is a manipulated propaganda scheme to achieve something-whatever it is-it's not good. I wish I still believed the media, the government or someone was looking out for me. I don't anymore. So gotta enjoy the moment, because I guess Morrison was right-the future's uncertain and the end is always near.

PS I hate August. Worse dead end brown hot hopeless month of the year.

35. can anybody think of a better reason
to get themselves into an anti-war groove than this bit of 'news'? I just don't know if they can really sell an invasion of Iran. It seems to me there is just NOT the support now. Nobody knows where the truth lies or who to trust after being so jerked around on Iraq. But of course the government hijackers may not think they need the backing of the country anymore.

Does anybody think they can rally support for a strike on Iran?
