We need a RIDE SHARE BOARD on DU !!!
What with so many people on here that want to get to various demonstrations all over the place.

What do you think about this?

Skinner, Can we have a ride share board where people can post that they are going to a certain demonstration or those who need rides?

Cindy's vigil inspired me to request this, and I don't see a ride share board anywhere. I see that many people want to go, but have no transportation.

A ride share board would solve some of this, without specifically endorsing a certain demonstration. People could just say thay want to get to (i.e.) Crawford and they are in a ceratin state, or that they ARE going to a certain place and are willing to take riders.. etc.

It wouldn't even have to be for demonstations; people might just not be able to afford transportation to Aunt Millie's house, what with the price of gas.
Sort of like the good old rides bulletin board you would search when you were in college.

So... what do you think?
If you agree, nominate this thread.
Thank you!

As a matter of fact, I'll be driving from Raleigh to DC for the 9/24 demonstrations and could fit at least 2 or 3 in the Skooby Du.

On edit: Duh - how do I nominate?! (Better driver than DU navigator...)

5. Ride share info for sept 24th protest in DC
Just FYI http://www.unitedforpeace.org/ride.php

But a DU ride share forum would be a nice idea.

Peace

7. GREAT idea...
Some of the state forums are very bogged down and personally I live on the border of 2 and if I could get with someone right now I'd be on the way to Crawford.

11. Yeah they can
and you don't have to post any personal information, just that you have a ride or need a ride.
Then have them PM you, that's all.

12. I understand your concern
Heck, I got myself an internet stalker 8 or so years ago. OTOH, I refuse to live with that kind of fear and when people were coming into town for Andy's funeral, I offered my house to people I had never met and you know what, they turned out to be just the kind of people they represented themselves to be.
