Heard this on CBC-AM this morning
Their morning drive-in show is a combination of local news, sports, traffic (I'm a regular caller-inner) and longer discussion of issues.

One of the news items was about the price of gas in Washington (not sure if DC or State). They were interviewing some woman complaining the price of gas was over $2.62 and if it didn't go down soon, she was gonna have to park her SUV.

I laughed myself silly.

Someone was saying if gas got more expensive, her cousin wouldn't be able to drive his Escalade. :nopity:

9. I think the rest of them were in the same boat
They kind of shook their heads, and one said, "I'm going to get a teeny Honda." I kept my mouth shut.

4. Sounds right for Washington state, too
from what I've seen. Since we combine an economy car and the bus, I really don't pay attention to the price of gas.

6. I'll bet the US auto makers are hoping gas $'s cause people to buy
new more economical cars, sorry, I'd like to but you sent my job to India so I'll never buy NEW or American again. This administration is killing consumers.

7. Ouch!!
I see what she means.

(courtesy of LBN stock market thread)

I drive a Ford Windstar myself but I yank the seats when I'm not hauling people. You wouldn't believe what it does for the gas mileage and the thing acts like a sports car with all that weight off.

I've looked inside those big SUV's and they're bloody useless. You can't pull the seats, they sort of fold over. They're not big enough to take a 4 * 8 sheet of plywood. They're too damn heavy to drive on ice (4 wheel drive is useless when you're using the brakes) and too wide to park in a typical single-car garage.

I used to own a Ramcharger when I lived out in the sticks (Dreadful Valley) but it was stock. I went hunting with some friends and spent the entire trip laughing my head off as they got stuck in their big 4x4's and I had to pull them out.
