I found the company that censored Michael Moore and Buzzflash in Canada!
I got a reply from my local library system (London, Ontario) who was kind enough to provide me all the information on who made the software program for internet filtering. As seen on my previous thread:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=104&topic_id=4290822&mesg_id=4290822

Michael Moore and Buzzflash were both filtered out as "Hate Sites". Right wing websites such as Michael Savage, Rush Limbaugh, and FreeRepublic were left alone. Go figure.

Anyway...here's the reply:

The London Public Library uses NetSweeper http://www.netsweeper.com / . This is a Canadian company located in Guelph, Ontario.

Let's do our research on Netsweeper, Inc. What's their agenda...any biases in their filtering codes?

2. Thanks for posting this. Sounds very similar to what has been done
to service members overseas. I have heard stories of them not being able to reach sites like DU. (Though clearly this isn't always the case as there are some folks who post here now and again from Iraq.)

3. I did some quick google
I don't have much time to spend...but there are a lot of people with complaints. I noticed one libray has a formal complaint that you can file about their Netsweeper filters.

6. Neocons in Canada have the same agenda as those in the USA.
They plan on controlling how we feel about each other & how we share. I was sorry to hear about this. Yes the neocons try very hard. The National Post is topped full of adolescent mean humor..an attempt to grow us all down to stupid putzes..easily lead.

The FibreWired Network - News and Information
NetSweeper-an Intelligent Agent that sweeps the Internet clean...
May 8, 2003

The privately held, Canadian-based Internet management solutions provider relies heavily on scalable, light-speed broadband access. That's where FibreWired Guelph comes in, with its 300 kilometres of fibre optic network and host of telecommunications services.

AIA now scans and classifies more than two million URLs daily. This identification system is the backbone for the NetSweeper Intelligent Content Filtering System.

"Compared to 1999, when we began using our original hybrid system to scan and classify 50,000 to 60,000 sites a day, AIA is artificial intelligence

13. I'd like to do more research
to check that there are indeed slanted connections as well as right-leaning biases within the Netsweeper company. Then we can nail them.
