Edited on Tue Aug-09-05 05:59 PM by Bluebear
When asked if the new energy bill had conservation measures in it, he informed people the best way to conserve is keep energy prices high, thereby discouraging people from wasting it. What a guy.

1. Huh?
Spoken like someone who doesn't have to worry about high prices at the pump or else where! And spoken like a guy who is most likely profiting from high oil prices!

3. yes, the people must not waste gas, it must be spent on yachts and jets
The peasants should not be wasting good game that the nobility can be feasting on.

8. I knew that was coming
I am awaiting the tax increase that will do the same thing. The guy is one of the most incompetent bureaucrats ever. Just like when he said the huge trade deficit was a show of strength for the economy. What a fuckhead.

9. Unless you're a Dem
then the high prices are going to wreck the economy!

Hey, didn't GWB run in 2000 saying that the gas prices were getting way to high, and that gasoline under Gore would be 2 bucks a gallon?

14. This is actually true
higher prices reduce consumption, which is frequently the justification for gas tax. This statement however, is cynical and idiotic. Oil and Gas companies are receiving subsidies, and the Clean Power Industry is not so that we may conserve energy?

17. ahhhh- we still have to buy goods and services.
i`m supposed to cut back eating so the oil companies and it`s stockholders can "enron" us ? yes the whole thing is idiotic and cynical esp when there is enough oil for demand.

18. That's their plan for medical care too:
Lately, they've been saying that the reason health care is so expensive, is because we're being so wasteful by using it when we don't really need it. The rising cost of health care is going to force us to stop those wasteful visits to the Doctor's office.
