What Would Clinton Do?
I saw a post on here the other day asking (rhetorically, cause we know the answer, don't we) what the press would be doing to Clinton if he were the president refusing to meet with Cindy Sheehan.

Actually, I don't think Clinton would ever have allowed himself to get into this situation. First of all he didn't have a ranch in Crawford, but all right, say someone had gone out to Martha's Vineyard to do the same. On Day One of the media coverage he would have walked out to wherever she was, trailed by a pack of cameramen and SS agents, sat down and talked to her, listened with a tear in his eye, talked to her about her son using enough personal information to make it clear that he knew who he was, conveyed to her his deep regret for her loss and appreciation for her sacrifice, promised that he would end the war just as soon as he possibly could, and invited her in for a pitcher of lemonade. By the time she left, there wouldn't have been a dry eye in the house.

And then he would have gone ahead and pursued whatever policy he had already adopted anyway. But at least he would be able to make it look like he gave a shit, which Bush appears to be constitutionally unable to do.

Ah well,

The Plaid Adder

1. Clinton would have responded with empathy and class.
Two things this "president" is incapable of.

3. Clinton was the "master" ...
... he could really make a connection with "regular folk." People felt good around him ... I agree 100% with your statement, "And then he would have gone ahead and pursued whatever policy he had already adopted anyway."

4. Your first statement says it all.
'Clinton would ever have allowed himself to get into this situation'. Period, end of story.

5. If Clinton was in Bush's position ...
the media would be covering Cindy Sheehan 24/7. FOX would be live from the site.
