1. The 911 Commission
did this extensive investigation and they did not know about "able danger"?
wow, seems like they did a real thorough job.

3. Looks like the Bushites hid another inconvenient fact
from the 9/11 commission.

This one will blow up in Bush's face badly. Again - "What did Bush know and when did he know it?"

5. Now we'll find out more about what the Bushites hid
They'll try to pin it on Clinton but Bush was asleep at the wheel.

Too many good books like Pet Goat for him to read rather than reading those pesky intelligence reports of Osama about to attack.

8. Clinton may not be entirely in the clear here...
...since he was still president when these people were under surveillance and when the motion to bring in the FBI was nixed, but the question is would the right thing to do at that time be to haul them in, or leave them free but under surveillance to see what else they would turn up.

Of course, if these guys had been under surveillance in the beginning of August 2001, a functioning administration might decide that "Al Queda Determined to Strike Within US" would mark the time to roll up everyone involved.

I'd also like to know what became of Able Danger when the Bushies entered, and downshifted counterterrorism priorities.

17. To put it in New Yorkese:
"Fuck Clinton, Bush and the trail of cocaine they both rode in on."

So says my grandma, you got a problem?

When are you people going to get it? These guys aren't even president, they just have things done for or against them and try to hang on and look good for the sort of history books written by servile old men.

This isn't about which man-totem you identify with best was nominally in charge while invisible government-based networks prepared their Oswald for the 21st Century.

No one "fucked up."

It was all steered and happened more or less as intended by the self-appointed rulers of your universe, the "rogue elements" who constitute the business end of your rogue government with its economy of plunder thriving in a culture of apathy.

People inside agencies who wanted to bag Atta & Co. were hindered. Able Danger may have been among them. People who protected Atta & Co. so that later they could be presented as the perpetrators of the 21st Century Reichstag Fire were promoted and given medals. Able Danger may have been among those.

Either way, you can be sure no one bothered to ask Clinton or Bush for permission to arrange what any good neocon Machiavelli could see was necessary. We need these wars, man, and that means we need the empowering event.

This is not about Clinton or the man who was put in to play Captain while the Reichstag burned, Bush.

This is about Justice for 9/11.

This about exposure of the greatest fraud ever perpetrated.

This about sweeping away an illegitimate regime that isn't going to let itself ever be voted out.

This is about stopping the nightmare world they are preparing for us.

This is about establishing, probably for the first time in this country's history, a real democratic republic based on truth and justice.

Kapish?

9. Countdown Debunked this last night - Weldon's info
Edited on Wed Aug-10-05 12:43 PM by RamboLiberal
is not to be trusted. Good god, Regnery published this flaky congressman's book! Able Danger sounds like something out of a bad episode of 24!

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8895001/

OLBERMANN: Let‘s begin with “The Times”‘ report.

Between the dubious, nebulous sourcing, the fact that the 9/11 Commission says it looked into this program and didn‘t find anything, and that the story has been around for a couple months, but no news organization really had been willing to touch it until today, is there reason to be skeptical about this account in “The New York Times”?

KOHLMANN: Well, even if we were sure this account was actually true, it doesn‘t tell us anything really that earth-shattering. While we didn‘t know necessarily about any involvement or knowledge by U.S. agencies of Mohamed Atta‘s presence here in the U.S., we know that the CIA knew at least about two of the individuals mentioned here, Khalid al-Midhar and Nawaq al-Hamzi, before 9/11.

So, if the issue is whether or not U.S. government agencies knew about 9/11 hijackers as potential al Qaeda terrorists here in the U.S. before 9/11, we already knew the answer was yes. And the larger issue, of course, is, any time you have a story like this, you have to go back to the source. And the only named source is Representative Curt Weldon.

And, with all due respect, Representative Weldon does not have a particularly good history in terms of reporting information about terrorism. His latest book, which accuses Iran of being behind virtually everything terrorism-related since the World Trade Center bombing, is based upon material that is absolute propaganda and is 100 percent wrong. It is based upon sources that we relied upon for the Iran-Contra affair that have been discredited over a decade ago.

And I think, really, the most telling comment was from a CIA official, who took the unprecedented step, really, of coming out and directly saying that he had reviewed the accusations that Mr. Weldon made in his book and determined that they were not worth his time, that they were a waste of his time. And, unfortunately, I‘m concerned that this report may again be a waste of our time, the time of the American public, the time of 9/11 Commission investigators, and the time of FBI and CIA agents.

12. It is not only Weldon who confirms Able Danger
Edited on Wed Aug-10-05 01:00 PM by grandg
"In a statement Tuesday, SOCom said Able Danger developed information about al-Qaida "as part of an effort to deter transnational terrorist organizations."…"
-St Petersburg Times

Additionally, Able Danger identified Mohamed Atta as the leader of the New York al-Qaeda cell... in 1999.

"What is interesting in this chart of al Qaeda, and you cannot see this from a distance, but right here in the center is the name of the leader of the New York cell. And that name is very familiar to the people of America. That name is Mohammed Atta, the leader of the 9/11 attack against us"
-Weldon Speech

Respectfully, this information trumps all previous disclosures related to Pre-9/11 investigations of the hijackers.

18. i see
A "CIA official." Took an unprecedented step. To tell us that the info we already knew in 2002, now rehashed by Weldon. Is false.

Woah. I surrender.

The names of Atta, Shehhi, Almidhar and Alhazmi were known to the US government well in advance as the future perpetrators of an attack on America.

These four men were under surveillance by the CIA in Hamburg and Kuala Lumpur, long in advance of their entries into the United States.

These four names were provided to the US govt on a list of 19 potential al-qaeda terrorists in the US by the Israeli Mossad in August 2001. This suggests that the many "Art Student" spies rounded up in Florida may have been tracking them there.

Now we get a new confirmation, from a Republican no less, and you want to pretend all that matters is he wants to spin it his way.

What on earth makes you think Weldon would manufacture this? He think he wants to have Franks and Rumsfeld on his back? He's a loose cannon, obviously.

10. What's your take on ?
Do you think Bush sabotaged the commission to further hide the fact that he ignored Clinton's specific warnings about Osama?

16. because Atta was an employee of the CIA/DIA/ONI/whatever
That's why he wasn't rounded up. Green cards and visas have never been a deterrent to investigations, ever.

20. Daniel Hopsicker on Atta and his government sponsored drug running-

Something has been struggling to emerge into our national consciousness
concerning the physical location of most of the terrorist
conspiracyís activities in the U.S. Mohamed Atta and his inner circle
were in Florida for most of the time while pursuing their murderous
designs. The plot was masterminded from Florida.
What to make of this choice? The answer to that question is
another question: ìWhatís up in Florida?î Although media attention
kept pointing away from the stateóto Phoenix, San Diego,
and Minneapolisó14 out of the 19 hijackers voted with their feet
and hung their terrorist shingle out in a state which has been governed
since 1999 by the current Presidentís brother.
