"President says increased government spending will create jobs"
And no, the President isn't FDR anymore, it's DUBYA on the transportation bill.

I'm taking great satisfaction in hearing him say, on CNN, that "highways just don't happen by themselves", and that "jobs will be created because of the $286,000,000,000.00 bill.

LOL....I wonder if the hard core doctrinaire conservatives are dying inside? Corporatists are funny dudes.....

1. Uh huh
Fiscal "conservatives" will raise taxes through the roof if the cause is something they believe in. They are NOT the "Anti-tax" party. Republicans fund NASA, religious institutes, and the boy scouts. Democrats fund minute (*roll eyes*) issues such as education and health care.

4. I imagine you are being sarcastic
There are no more paleo-conservatives. They are a myth.

There are only pathetic sycophants who sell out to whatever the administration does.

....besides, wasn't the entire 52,000 mile Interstate highway system built from scratch of under $50 billion? That was from 1960 to 1975 at an average rate of $1,000,000.00 per mile including all land acquisition, design, engineering, management, raw materials, equipment and manpower.

What does shrub plan to do with $286 billion, build a bridge to the moon? :wtf:

6. Awesome.
Can we now admit that FDR's economic theories absolutely destroy Reagan's?

7. Woo Hoo! That's what I was thinking!
This is some funny stuff. I just wish the 286 B was being spent on alternative energy and rail, as well as education....

Still, I wonder if the Freeper types will ever see the disconnect?

9. Not exactly, this is all republican style pork-barrel spending ....
...not to be confused with Keynesian economics. Fat cats get their cut first above all the rest, followed by graft, bribes and payoffs, plus huge cost overruns that screw the tax payers and ultimately the dollars which trickle down will be barely enough to get living wages. Oh, new variable, check imported labor no matter how much an American worker needs the work.

10. You're absolutely right
But, in principle, he's arguing that if the government spends money on public works projects, jobs will be created and the economy will be improved. That's good enough for me to go after the asshole hypocrites.

13. I agree. It's increased government spending for pork projects.
But it DOES make jobs....he said so himself....so government CAN do good for the country....much, much different philosophy than those guys who want to drown the economy in a bucket.

Giant schism here....pork is kind....the caravan is coming through their areas, loaded with gold....the king smiles on some of us...
