How is it a putz like Frank Luntz can easily advance a GOP message |

and our wordsmiths like Mark Crispin Miller and George Lakoff - put together - are barely a blip on the airwaves?

1. Because he is backed by big money.... |
|
and the cable news is too lazy to do its own focus groups so they tap him and give him air time.

2. How about because the "liberal media" is a myth? |
|
How's that for starters?
Because we all know how liberal GE, MSFT, AOL/Time Warner, Viacom, Newscorp are right?
Riiiiiiiiiiiiight....

5. Miller and Lakoff are not welcome on TV or radio |
|
because they could actually hold their own in a "fair and balanced" "debate."
The liberal media only wants Democrats who can't make their points effectively and are easily shouted over.

10. Sounds like the same way they treat Dem lawmakers and their campaigns. |
|
I wonder if Miller and Lakoff ever noticed this media hostility and heavy editting of the Dem lawmakers and the issues they try to bring forward?

12. Funny how they don't consider the same thing happens to Dem lawmakers |
|
and candidates.
The message that gets on air is seldom the actual message delivered.

Small thoughts only need small words, and small words are easier to remember.
Big thoughts can't be condensed into a sound bite. Big thoughts can't be spun. Big thoughts take time to ponder and digest.

8. Based on that simple truth, it's still amazing Kerry swept all 3 debates.. |
|
and, maybe people were able to recognize they WANT more and the broadcast media is just REFUSING to give it to them?

13. Money and media airtime.. |
|
Watch any documentary and you will see very smart people..good looking people..educated people..but that's the ONLY place you'll see them..because they buck they system and tell the truth.. they speak to the common man..
Look at all the "financial shows" there are..Most common people invest through mutual funds or 401-k..they do not scan the dowjones printouts constantly..they do nbot TIVO the financial channel to see what the Nikkei exchange did overnight..
How many mainstream shows are devoted to labor issues? housing issues of the middle class..childcare woes of the middle class?? on a consistent basis??
ONE.. NOW..and it's been demoted to a half hour and robbed of its star, Moyers..
Nutcases like Doughboy Luntz, get paid handsomely to spin webs of deceit because that's what the people in charge want,.,.
truth is poison to them

14. Money money money $$$$$$$. |
|
You get Scaife/Coors/Moon money behind some info, and even if it's false, the meassge will be disseminated and debunkers marginalized. There's a huge media infrastructure behind every single conservative talking point, and for the last few years, the big sexy fad has been conservatism. Once the fad's over, the mainstream media may actually have to become more moderate again and stop listening to AEI, Heritage, Cato, etc. and do some research of their own.
We don't have that kind of money behind us to push our facts into the manistream.
