Shrub is a stupid man.
Edited on Wed Aug-10-05 08:24 PM by charlyvi
Cindy Sheehan is his worst nightmare and what does he do? Ignores her. That's stupid. What would it have cost for him to invite he to a private meeting. After all, he's HER employee. A cup of coffee, a heartfelt conversation about her pain and his foreign policy goals. BUT THE ASSHOLE WOULDN'T DO IT.

She's winning. And we're winning. Because he's so stupid.

problem head-on. Look at his actions on 911. Stayed at the school as long as he could, then flew around the country apparently waiting for his pants to dry. He's a scared little chickenshit. His first instinct with Cindy was to send a couple of toadies out there in his place, and hope she'd go away. When she didn't, he decided to ignore her and apparently had Rove instruct the networks to do likewise. Problem is the longer he ignores her, the more time passes for people to come and support her. The protest is likely to grow to the point where the networks will feel the heat from viewers to report it, and when they do, chimp will have no choice but to have her arrested or arrange to meet with her - which he could have done quietly last weekend to begin with. Arresting a Gold Star mother is probably something that even Rove and Cheney would agree looks bad, but chimp would probably rather have a hot poker up his ass than be forced to talk with her now. It's rapidly becoming a real lose-lose for Pres. Turkeyass, and a dilemma of his own making.

3. there is a beautiful photo out there somewhere, of him ...
... at the turkey-pardoning ceremony a couple of years ago, using someone else's hand to pat the turkey! (The previous year, the bird had snapped at him after he grabbed it by the neck.)

4. Yep. Truly stupid and unnecessary
But then again, doing stupid and unnecessary things are what he is good at. The only thing he's good at. I guess he has actually found his niche at last.

13. Wouldn't it be cool
to have Rove completely out of the equation (hopefully in prison) and to have the shrub out there, totally vulnerable...operating on his own wits, nobody to tell McLennan what to say...Rumsfeld obuscating, and Condi - with that lying tremor in her voice...without the devil's own operative able to pull any more strings...

I have a dream...

(Pause to watch the last seven soldiers killed in Iraq on Jim Lehrer...)

I just wish that all of the pro-Bush folks could spend as much time in airports as we do, seeing the soldiers coming and going - and when I say soldiers, I mean the Marines and all of them - we cannot tell from their camo, but we know that the ones with sand on their boots and suitcases are thankfully coming home, and the ones without the sand are heading out, into a particular hell. Remember that we started this "war" at the time that we did because we didn't want to have our soldiers fight in the heat of summer? Well, we are two summers later...I respect everything and every reason these men and women do that terrible job, but I HATE that we are sending them out to do this on our behalf.

2. Clinton would have invited any protester in...
and listened, and thought about it, and been truly charming, and may have even changed his position, and then been accused of being a flip-flopper. But he would have done it. Because he is a true man, and a man of the people. Didn't have to make it a catch-phrase - he actually was a man of the people. Insulating himself from the general populace (a la the shrub) would have been almost painful to him. Better to hear some criticism, and entertain some new notions.

Remember when he attacked Osama during Monica-gate and was accused of "Wag the Dog"? Except that was real, and the threat was real and they took action. And then shrub had - on vacation in Crawford -evidence about an imminent US threat from Osama, and set about clearing the bush in a photo-op show of manliness...instead of taking care of national security. And then 9/11 happened.

"*" styles his CT self as a cowboy, but he is the ultimate pussy-puppet, thrust into position as "The President" (as he continually reminds himself and the rest of us) by a bunch of neo-cons with an agenda that goes back to Reagan.

The rich get richer, the hapless soldiers (including the Nat'l Guard) continue to die, we are no safer, and China owns our ass. And the "pussy-puppet" who wants to get in touch with the general public is afraid of a Mom just down his road for a war he started to prove that he is a bigger man than his Daddy.

We are f*&%ed!

And they hadn't lost sons due to his arrogant fantasies.

And the same reason he couldn't think of any mistakes he's made.

His rigid mind won't allow him to admit mistakes, or even acknowledge any evidence that suggests his assumptions are wrong. I'll bet it's not even a conscious decision. He just knows he doesn't want to do it.

18. he just plain "c'aint"...it might could be
genetic, if it weren't for that Darwin fella and that evo-loo-shun theory...

Actually, if we think about it, it just might be that Darwinisn is reversing itself, and we are returning to the apes - I mean, the chimp...

Do y'all have some nits that I need to pick, and eat - they might could be part of the new food pyramid? Plus the vegetable known as ketchup from the Reagan years...nits and ketchup...and the chimp thread carries through...Bonzo, food pyramid, the smirk, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz...plus ca change, plus ca rest de meme (Trans: FR - the more things change, the more they stay the same.)

Well, at least we have thrown off the mantle of Saudi oil and Iraq is supplying itself and us - oh wait..not actually the case. Oh well, good plans gang awry...it's a Robbie Burns thing...let's all get us up some kilts and bagpipes, and mourn the passing of civilization as we know it.

as a major PR stunt, throwing tons of money around. Instead, he's just the Lizard of Oz.

Let's see him try to get outta the jam he's in now. :D

or if he has the option to make the decision to see her.

Bushco may be making a stupid mistake by not taking to her, but I never think of gw as stupid. He gets away with to much bad behavior with that excuse. He's cunning, and mean spirited, and missing a few, but not stupid.

17. Agreed...remember "The Peter Principle"...
we are living it. Except it is the Rovian, Cheneian, Rumsfeldian Principle, and they got Condi caught up in it too. Recess appointments to bring all of the rest of cabal on board...

We need Cindy Sheehan and Paul Hackett and all of the rest of the "Rosa Parks" canaries in the mine to wake the people up...and we must get behind them and get the message out.

16. Yeah, and the sun is really, really hot.
You're right, ignoring Cindy is perhaps the most stupid thing he has done so far. Or should we say, the most stupid thing his handlers have let him do. Granted the "smart" thing to do, which is go out and speak to her, take your lumps and move on, wouldn't be easy. But it would be a short-term pain for long-term gains; facing her and her tough questions could score him some major political points, and he could use some right about now. HOWEVER, we know that's never going to happen, because Chimp might also have to admit mistakes and apologize, something he is incapable of doing.

That's fine by me, though. He'll have to answer Cindy's questions eventually, and the longer he waits the better his answers are going to be. I'm dying to know his answers as much as anyone, but I can wait!

Go, Cindy, Go!!!

20. This is their Fatal Flaw: They Will NEVER Admit When They're Wrong
So bush can't turn around now and agree to meet with her. Admitting mistakes is his Achilles Heel - he/they JUST WON'T DO IT. They are trying to appear infallible. The problem is they have backed themselve into a corner and now they are fucked.
