USA TODAY: Peace House a center of dissent in Crawford
Peace House a center of dissent in Crawford
By Oren Dorell, USA TODAY
CRAWFORD, Texas — When Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice arrive at President Bush's isolated ranch Thursday, they'll face an unwelcome greeting: scores of peace protesters who have joined a vigil by the mother of a soldier who died in Iraq.

Local authorities and activists also are gearing up for a possible confrontation Friday. The group's protest site sits beside a two-lane country road between Bush's Prairie Chapel Ranch and the Broken Spoke Ranch, where his top campaign fundraisers are invited to a barbecue with the president.

1. GO CINDY GO!
I can't sleep...I have to make sure they're not hauled off in the middle of the night.

4. Fundraisers invited to a BBQ
and families of our dead military are ignored. I wish this site would put up a clock showing the days, hours, minutes and seconds we have until W and his arrogancy is gone.

5. "On Friday, Bush will have to pass by Sheehan..."
http://quote.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=10000039&refer=columnist_carlson&sid=a3HdcrlVtn64

On Friday, Bush will have to pass by Sheehan in his climate- controlled car with its tinted windows, kicking up dust and caking Sheehan's sunburned face, or forgo a fundraiser at a nearby spread. Bush lives in a bubble -- his pre-screened audiences applaud him for platitudes and for his resolve. He goes nowhere alone. He took Dick Cheney along to his interview with the 9/11 Commission.

He isn't refusing to see Sheehan because he's callous but because he's like those of us listening to Lipscomb. Alone with Sheehan, he might find himself crying, over something his privileged position means he will never have to endure

6. Bush crying?
that's a good one. If Bush ever cries, it will be when he's being dragged, pant-wetted, to the gallows for war crimes.
