Thanks to your efforts, this diary at the very least has helped raise $1,380.18 (at least, that is, posted in this diary). According to Cindy in her latest diary, they've received more than $30,000 due to generosity from supporters. If you can still spare some change or some items (chairs,blankets,umbrellas, food and water, coffee, tarps/ canopy, flashlights and batteries, wet wipes, bug spray, ice chests/ ice, camcorders, Gatorade or Emergen-C, and spray misters) to donate, please do.

In addition, thanks to your efforts, it appears that the stations that were to hold the Anti-Sheehan rally (masked as a Pro-Troops/Pro-Bush rally in Crawford, TX) have supposedly backed off, although we will be keeping our eyes open to see if they are being truthful. The host, "JACK HAMMER", is also a real ass.

Anderson Cooper was scheduled to have Cindy Sheehan on his show last night, live, from Camp Casey, but he chickened out. His website and promo said he would interview her. On Status of Anti-Sheehan Protest

Early Wednesday morning, word spread, initially from a comment at RawStory.com, that some stations in Crawford might be sponsoring an anti-Sheehan barbecue, sponsored by KWTX 1230 AM (Fox News Radio, Waco, TX, at 1-254-776-3900, not associated with the TV station of the same name), KLFX 107.3 "The Fox Rocks " (1-254-699-5000) , 102.5 FM, and one more that was forgotten at the time of writing. The barbecue was to take place in the lot NEXT TO the Crawford Bank, and a host named "JACK HAMMER", who is a sexist Republican pig, would be there. They stated they would offer free burgers and Coca-Cola. Ed Schultz' staff contacted the Crawford bank, and they wanted to let everyone know that they were never involved whatsoever in this event, and that they were very upset at the radio station's using the name of their institution in their advertisements for this anti-American barbecue. The bank was NOT sponsoring it and is not involved in any of the nastiness by the station(s). Schultz also had a reporter call in who stated that the Ft. Hood military were being ENCOURAGED to show up. Evan Armstrong, general manager, later tried to make it a "Pro-Bush, Pro-Troops" rally, but the fact is, people clearly heard (including Thom Hartmann's show engineer, among others) that it was an anti-Sheehan rally. If you called as a normal Bush supporter rather than an enraged DailyKos/Democratic Underground reader, you were given that information.
Fortunately, plenty of DailyKos and DemocraticUnderground readers gave the stations a piece of their mind, and Evan Armstrong, who is general manager of a rock station and a. Fox News Radio station, states that it is cancelled. It is not clear if he can be trusted. Here's their website: http://www.newstalk1230.com/main.html . Joe Trippi's Plea for Help for Cindy

I just got off of the phone with Jodie Evans, who is with Cindy in Crawford right now. They had 3 and a half inches of rain last night. The camp is flooded, all of their supplies are soaked. Even worse, Cindy is running a fever and has a sore throat.
They really need your help. We are trying to dig out anyone who can volunteer to go to the camp and bring them fresh materials - umbrellas, chairs, blankets, etc... They are having a terrible time acquiring these things on their own, so they really are depending on us to help them out quickly.

Here's what I sent to Anderson Cooper:

I was disappointed that the live interview with Cindy Sheehan promised on your site did not come to pass yesterday. I hope the interview has only been delayed, not cancelled. I look forward to seeing you put the charge that Cindy changed "her tune to serve political purposes" (http://www.dailydemocrat.com/news/ci_2926160 ) to rest. In a phone interview after the July 4th anti-war rally in DC, Cindy said following about her 2004 meeting with Bush "...It was one of the most disgusting experiences I ever had and it took me almost a year to even talk about it." (http://bellaciao.org/en/article.php3?id_article=6815 ).

As pointed out by Media Matters (http://mediamatters.org/items/200508100009 ) the remarks cited to support the baseless charge that she "changed her tune" are incomplete and intentionally misleading. Even if the twisted meaning had been an accurate reflection of what she said at the time, it could be given no weight. In the immediate aftermath of such a deeply disturbing experience, I can’t imagine anyone that would have the presence of mind to give voice to what had occurred. Her experience is something that few would ever have the courage talk about.
