12. Whispering Campaign is brilliant idea |
|
Winter Patriot,
Thanks for the brilliant idea, and for all your work on the Whispering Campaign.
I've heard some folks say that many Americans are too lazy or apathetic to be concerned about current events (especially in Bush's political world). I happen to disagree- I think that many Americans, a hard-working bunch, are simply too stressed-out and too time-challenged trying to keep their economic and personal lives together that they just don't have the time to keep up with current events. They might hear a bit of "news" via the TV, while they're busy multi-tasking, but the TV news is hardly balanced. And, commute time doesn't provide much at all to listen to for "news" either, given the dominance of right-wing talk shows.
So, your idea of printing out the real news via simple one-page sheets, with the follow-up references included, and leaving these in places where our citizens might read them, is brilliant. When I'm standing in line at my local Credit Union, for example, I'd much rather have the opportunity to read something novel and informative, instead of cursing myself for not having been well enough organized to bring along a book!

That makes no bones about the reaction most of the US is having with regard to attacks on Ms. Sheehan.
