Want to go to Freedom Walk? You have to register first.
Edited on Thu Aug-11-05 10:13 AM by Canuckistanian
From the Carpetbagger Report:

"That's right, in order to participate in a government-sponsored "Freedom Walk" on public streets past public monuments, from one outdoor public landmark to another, you have to give your name address, phone number, and email address to the Pentagon.

Perhaps, you're thinking, there are security concerns. Maybe, but that's not a good reason to "screen" people who want to participate in this walk. DC hosts elaborate 4th of July festivities, with thousands of people going to the exact same places this walk will go, but no one is screened or forced to register. For that matter, people can watch a presidential inauguration and/or inaugural parade in DC just by showing up.

But before commemorating 9/11 and walking to a Clint Black concert, the Pentagon has a few questions for you."

2. hellll no...
This whole thing is despicable. It should be a somber event best left for the families to spend how they choose to deal with it... it's not a fucking party.

I'm just ill over this thing.

5. Well, well, well.
How closely do you think they will be checking the registrants? I can't see any reason to ask for this kind of info unless they are going to screen people to make sure no "undesirables" get in. Do you think they will have a "Free Speech Zone" for protestors or will they just be detained for the duration?

6. Maybe this is over the top, but it wouldn't suprise me
If they checked registrants for their voter registration and only accepted registered Republicans. They might even turn away Democratic politicians and celebraties.

Then, of course, some of the Democrats will make a fuss, and some of them might even get air time in the media to discuss the situation. But no one would hear them or care.

A few weeks after the event, asshats like Limbaugh and Hannity will be able to say "I don't recall seeing any Democrats there. That should really tell you something about the patriotism of the Democratic party".

It seems like an over-the-top exaggeration, but I am getting so cynical that I really think this could start happening. They already do similar shit and get away with it.

11. I don't think you're over the top at all
I think the scenario you've stated is exactly the kind of thing they would do. Isn't it sad?

7. Welcome to the new great american holiday, a celebration of death!
I can see it now, bbq's, parades, etc all to honor all those poor people that died on 9/11. And why is this happening??? The all mighty dollar.
Other than Labor day, which will be promptly done away with by the repukes soon enough, they will need a new holiday to fill the gap between July 4th and Holloween. Yes, if you haven't noticed holloween is a major holiday now.

So, line up now and get your flag for a day, your support your troops banner for a day, only to promptly fold them up or throw them away the next day.
Not to worry though, there are still plenty of wars to go around for everyone and all you have to do is wait and sure enough another engineered attack, is just around the corner so as to bloster all those nervous nelly's out there, poo pooing the current war.

I've come to the conclusion that these repukes are rightfully from another planet. They are no longer human or have the ability to exibit human qualities.

It's been long predicted that an alien take over would happen, well, it's here!

God, these people are a public embarrassment to our country. I loath them

colossal failure*

9. Do repukes just have to show their "OnePass" cards
and breeze right on through?

How many of these "forms" will end up being checked for likelihood of Dem voting patterns, and how many of matches will end up with recruiters calling?

10. here is another article on the subject

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/wn_report/story/335938p-286948c.html

Pentagon to host
9/11 march, show

-snip-

The Pentagon will hold a massive march and country music concert to mark the fourth anniversary of 9/11, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said in an unusual announcement tucked into an Iraq war briefing yesterday.

"This year the Department of Defense will initiate an America Supports You Freedom Walk," Rumsfeld said, adding that the march would remind people of "the sacrifices of this generation and of each previous generation."

The march will start at the Pentagon, where nearly 200 people died on 9/11, and end at the National Mall with a show by country star Clint Black.

-snip-

Administration supporters insisted Rumsfeld was right to link Iraq and 9/11, and hold the rally.
-snip-
---------------------------------------

personally I think the Pentagon should be turned into low income apartments
