I remember at the time thinking that this SOB is going to manipulate this event politically because political posturing was all we had seen from him. Remember the hanging out at the pig far and looking presidential posturing he did during the 2000 recount? The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior.

...I hate to admit it but in the days right after Sept.11 I was kinda behind the guy. I remember thinking that he was an asshole but he's the asshole we have to rely on now. That lasted about 2 weeks.

17. I have never even remotely considered trusting or supporting

him. I was just as critical of him after 9/11 as I had been before. Probably even moreso as I knew he was going to use 9/11 to cram his agenda down everyone's throats. I was at home sick on 9/11 and when I saw the coverage of a plane crashing into one of the towers, my absolute first thought was that Dubya was behind it. Then when Dubya gave some speech and talked about the "shining beacon of freedom" or something similar, I immediately added "led by one dim bulb." Then again, I suppose you might consider that being supportive in the relative sense as I usually call him MUCH worse.

... so there was no reason to trust him after 9/11. The sudden appearance of several hundred pages' worth of Patriot Act and a fully-fledged war on Afghanistan shortly after 9/11 convinced me that any trust would be misplaced.

What I get sick of hearing is that "we were all united". The two statements overlap but are not the same thing.

I was supportive of him after 9/11. I was almost glad he was president in some ways. Too bad he pretty much fu*ked up Afghanistan after starting out so well. He was still doing alot of other little things I didn't like. I took Iraq to make me totally hate him.
